Thailand Weather

Thailand is a destination that can be visited at any time with a tropical climate of high temperatures and humidity and diversity within the various regions of the country. The north may have the odd shower from August to October which is what keeps the landscape looking so lush, while the east coast is great to visit from December to February. On the west coast conditions are at their very best from November to March.

Thailand is a fabulous destination to visit almost all year round. Its warm temperatures and diverse range of destinations are perfect for enjoying a sunny, relaxing and luxurious holiday.

The Phuket side of Thailand – which includes Krabi, Khao Lak, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao Noi, Koh Racha and Koh Lanta – is better to visit during our winter (November to May).

Koh Samui, on the other hand, is better to visit during our summer (May to September).

Also, please note that October is perhaps not the best time to visit Thailand due to the monsoons, making the weather wet and grey.

For a true taste of Thailand, the floating markets of Bangkok and Ratchaburi are a must. Alternatively, meet the resident Asian elephants before canoeing along the beautiful Khao Sok River. You can even head to Chiang Mai to visit its lively night market and explore the ancient Doi Suthep temple. From Chiang Mai, why not travel south towards Bangkok and enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Chao Phraya River? In addition to Chao Phraya River, explore Thailand exactly how you want – whether that’s enjoying authentic street food in Bangkok or relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Koh Samui and Phuket. The incredible beaches rival some of the best from around the world – white sand, blue waters and enchanting reefs await. Every traveller to Thai shores should experience its wonderful cuisine – which is bursting with flavour and ingredients that’ll tingle your taste buds. You should also take in the sights of bustling Bangkok, a city with vibrancy at every corner that’ll indulge all your senses.

The easiest way to get to Thailand is to fly to Bangkok. From there, fly north to Chiang Mai or south to the islands. From Phuket, drive to Khao Lak or Krabi and from there take a boat to islands such as Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao Noi, Koh Lanta, Koh Racha or Koh Yao Yai. Alternatively, fly to Koh Samui from Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

Phuket and Samui are easily accessible from other Asian cities such as Singapore.

There are direct flights to Bangkok. Alternatively, there are good options via the Middle East (for example, Emirates or Qatar Airways).

How long does it take to fly to Thailand from the UK?

An average direct flight is just under 12 hours to Bangkok. Flying indirect will take a little longer.

A flight to, for example, Phuket via Bangkok takes on average 14 hours including transit time.

What's the best way of getting around in Thailand?

The best way of getting around in Thailand is by flying between cities.

Driving in air-conditioned vehicles is easy while tuk tuks, especially in Bangkok, are good fun.

Boats are also often involved to get to some of the islands.
