Bandhavgarh National Park is a jungle-covered sanctuary for wildlife with ancient secrets hidden among its rocky outcrops. A 2,000-year-old fort with Sanskrit-covered cave shrines stands testament to long-gone dynasties. Now the inhabitants include the Bengal tiger and the elusive white tiger of Rewa.
Once a hunting reserve of the royal family of Rewa, Bandhavgarh was declared a National Park in 1968 and subsequently developed into one of India’s finest Tiger reserves. Today Bandhavgarh is thought to be the park with the highest density of tigers in India.
In addition to Tigers, it is possible to see sloth bear, wild dog and even the occasional wolf. The park also offers bird lovers an abundance of birdlife with over 150 species known to visit the park.
