Set the pace for a gentle journey through Bali and Java, starting in cultural and scenic Ubud. Here, the cool mountain air makes for comfortable walks in nature, while the craft stalls and art studios offer the finest examples of island craftsmanship to pick up as souvenirs.

On to Java, tick the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Borobudur Temple, off your bucket list – it’s one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world, built in the 8th and 9th centuries AD. Then swap manmade marvels for natural wonders by heading east and ascending the active volcano, Mount Bromo – best experienced at sunrise.

Fly to laidback Lombok, renowned for its exceptional diving and snorkelling opportunities, where you can amble along Sekaroh’s naturally pink beaches. Then, wind down on a beach in Bali, venturing into the Indian Ocean to surf the region’s epic waves.

Itinerary

Arrive in Bali and take a private transfer to your hotel for the next three nights, COMO Uma Ubud. Spend the afternoon at leisure and relax after your flight.
Begin your day with a scenic walk along the Campuhan Ridge, where emerald rice terraces and river valleys frame one of Ubud’s most tranquil trails. Continue to the 8th-century Gunung Lebah Temple before heading into town to explore the ornate Royal Palace and browse local crafts at Ubud Art Market. Later, visit the sacred Monkey Forest, home to ancient temples and playful macaques, before enjoying a relaxed Balinese lunch and returning to your hotel.
Staying at   COMO Uma Ubud
Spend the afternoon tasting Bali’s culinary delights. Begin at a local home on the outskirts of Ubud, where you'll learn how coconut oil is made and taste Pepes Clengis — a steamed coconut dish wrapped in banana leaves. Later, continue to Gianyar Night Market, where sizzling street stalls serve favourites like bubur injin and spiced chicken betutu. End the evening at a hidden bamboo restaurant for a shared Megibung dinner, a communal feast celebrating authentic Balinese flavours and culture.
Staying at   COMO Uma Ubud
Today, check-out of COMO Uma Ubud. Fly to Yogyakarta and transfer to Amanjiwo, a tranquil retreat overlooking the largest temple complex in the world, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Borobudur. Spend the afternoon at leisure, taking in your serene surroundings, or indulge in the Amanjiwo Spa, where traditional Javanese healing rituals and locally sourced ingredients are combined with Aman’s all-natural skincare range.
Staying at   Amanjiwo
Set out before sunrise to visit Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest single Buddhist monument in the world. Watch the sun illuminate the intricate relief panels and more than 500 Buddha statues, before stopping for a light breakfast. Continue to Candirejo, a peaceful village surrounded by plantations, with a ride on a traditional Dokar (horse-drawn buggy) or bicycle. Experience local life with hands-on activities and a gamelan music lesson, followed by lunch at a nearby restaurant, before returning to Amanjiwo.
Staying at   Amanjiwo
Begin your day at the Sultan’s Palace, or Kraton, and wander between ornate reception halls, Pendopos pavilions and historic chambers. You'll also discover the Taman Sari, or Water Palace, before continuing to Kota Gede, Yogyakarta’s silver-making district. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Prambanan, the 9th-century Hindu temple complex dedicated to the Trimurti and renowned for its soaring spires; this UNESCO site is considered the largest and finest Hindu temple in Indonesia.
Staying at   Amanjiwo
Fly from Java to Lombok and transfer to The Oberoi Beach Resort, set on the white sands of Medana Beach and within 24 acres of lush tropical gardens. Spend your afternoon at leisure, enjoying ocean-facing dining, swimming in the infinity pool, or snorkelling the vibrant house reef.
Begin the day with a transfer from your Lombok hotel to Teluk Kodek harbour for a boat trip to the Gili Islands, including Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. Swim and snorkel among vibrant corals and tropical fish at renowned spots such as Sunrise Point, Turtle Point and Blue Coral. After lunch on Gili Air, explore Gili Trawangan at your own pace with a traditional horse-drawn cart or bicycle ride before returning to your hotel in Lombok.
Venture into Lombok’s lush interior, visiting traditional houses in Senaru Village before continuing to Sendanggile Waterfall at the foot of Mount Rinjani. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before exploring a 300-year-old mosque, learning how local beliefs and practices have intertwined over time. The day concludes with scenic views from Bukit Selong on the eastern slopes of Mount Rinjani and a walk through Pusuk Sembalun monkey forest, before returning to your hotel.
Spend your day at leisure at The Oberoi Beach Resort, relaxing at the spa with open-air, thatched treatment rooms offering Balinese, Western and Oberoi signature therapies. Alternatively, enjoy the hotel beach club with complimentary snorkelling, sea kayaking and paddleboarding, or choose a sunset cruise or a romantic dinner by the beach as the day draws to a close.
Fly from Lombok back to Bali and transfer to Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. Set in a sheltered bay along three miles of sand, your private pool villa offers the perfect setting to relax. Spend your afternoon at leisure, soaking up the views, enjoying the resort’s authentic arts offerings, and a finding deeper connection to Bali’s landscapes.
Take a guided stroll through Jimbaran Fish Market with a chef from Nelayan Restaurant, discovering the local seafood varieties and the history of this thriving fishing community. Continue to the restaurant’s herb garden to harvest fresh ingredients before returning to the kitchen, where the chef will guide you in preparing an authentic Balinese menu. Learn to make dishes such as Jukut Gedang Be Pasih, Sate Lilit Ikan and Godoh Biu, then enjoy a delicious lunch by the ocean, accompanied by a certificate and printed recipes to recreate these dishes at home.
Spend your day at leisure at Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, enjoying the resort’s facilities or simply relaxing by your private pool. Alternatively, take an optional excursion to Uluwatu Temple, perched 70m above the Indian Ocean and one of Bali’s most dramatic sea temples. Watch the waves crash against the cliffs before witnessing a traditional Kecak dance performed by up to a hundred men, retelling the story of Rama, Sita and King Rahwana in a mesmerizing display of rhythm and movement.
Enjoy another day at leisure at Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, or choose an optional adventure. Embark on a private catamaran cruise, with a welcoming crew serving coffee, tea and pastries as you sail to a nearby island for snorkeling, sea-kayaking, village visits or simply relaxing on deck, followed by a BBQ lunch before returning to Bali. Alternatively, take a private surf lesson in Sanur or Legian, where gentle waves and expert instruction provide the perfect setting to learn or refine your skills while connecting with the ocean.
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning at leisure before a private transfer to the airport for your journey home.
