This red sand desert straddles the Utah-Arizona border and is famed for its towering sandstone buttes, used as the backdrop of many cowboy and western films.
The landscape as it is today being formed by over 50-million-years of wind and water erosion, reveals towering sandstone buttes which have become an iconic symbol of the west.
This natural wonder is best explored on a Navajo guided experience such a half-day or full-day jeep tour, taking you to explore the back roads and scared lands.
An unpaved 17-mile scenic valley drive passes several major monuments including The Mittens, Three Sisters and John Ford’s Point.
Hikers have a diverse choice of opportunities from easy short trails to more challenging routes such as the Grand Gulch – Bullet Canyon to Canyon Junction where you will find ancient Anasazi ruins, rock art and stone houses.
