Full accommodation information

Families in search of the ultimate European ski retreat need look no further, as the new Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon has arrived.

Designed solely for those travelling with children (reservations are only taken for families), this sleek, modern eco-hotel on Golm mountain in Austria’s Vorarlberg state puts a family holiday for all at the heart of every detail.

The supervised children’s clubs, which are separated by age group, are free and include plenty of unique features such as a science lab, bouncy tree, crawling area and a climbing wall; while the spa has an indoor-outdoor pool with waterslides. In fact, with children considered in every amenity, there’s something for young guests everywhere in the hotel; from the kids’ spa treatments and baby pool at the spa, to the children’s rooms with bunks, and the live cooking stations in the restaurant – perfect for fussy eaters. Everything here is about enjoying time together with family life made easy.

Giving parents time for themselves is a priority at this Leading Hotels of the World property too. There’s a nursery where babies can be cared for whilst their parents disappear for a couple of hours skiing. And the spa has separate areas for family to use the facilities, as well as a relaxing space just for adults.

In winter the ski opportunities are exceptional, with slopes suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers in the vicinity. Montafon itself has a range of options, with 74 cable cars and lifts, 297km of pistes, and for expert skiers there are a couple of more challenging runs. The hotel has ski rental and kit storage, whilst the Golm Snow Sports School offers family-friendly lessons for all ages and abilities.

Dining is heavily influenced by sustainability, with Half Board Plus giving access to hearty breakfasts and Alpine evening meals, and includes a “jause” or late lunch, that’s ideal for après ski hungry tummies.

Rooms and suites offer a variety of configurations to suit the size and needs of your party, but as standard have modern en suites, a sofa and television and a mini-bar. Accessible rooms are available.

Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon is a superb destination for your family’s European ski break and in Austria’s first ‘Climate Neutral Ski Area’ and with a string of sustainability credentials to its name; it’s an eco-conscious hotel choice too.

As with everything at this hotel, the 123 rooms and suites have been carefully designed to make travel with children seamless. Cots and amenities for babies can be added, and second children’s rooms have space for younger guests to get a good night’s sleep, many boasting a second bathroom.

Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of light, and views across the accommodation options vary from garden, mountain and inner courtyard.

All have the expected amenities of a Luxury Hotels of the World property; television, toiletries, bathrobe, slippers, hairdryer etc.

All families can access the daily activities, which range from cinema nights and disco parties to cooking classes and sporting competitions.

Winter Activities

The hotel’s location in the centre of a family-friendly ski area makes it a great location for a winter holiday. There is a shuttle to take you to the lifts, ski rental on site, and close by the Golm Snow Sports School, with lessons for all in a safe and fun environment, whether your preference is skiing or snowboarding.

An activity the whole family will love is a carriage ride through the snow, while older kids can try snowshoe hiking, ice skating and cross-country skiing.

Spa and Wellness

Unusually for a spa facility, Hotel Montafon’s wellness experience is one that the whole family can enjoy.

There is a small pool for babies with an area to “cuddle them warm” afterwards; an indoor/outdoor pool with waterslides for bigger kids; and a separate adults-only area for when you’re making the most of the onsite childcare facilities.

The exclusive range of treatments use only natural products, and there is a menu of therapies for children and teens. The relaxation areas boast stunning panoramic views, while a fitness room is on-hand for early morning gym sessions.
