Sasaab is a spectacular luxury tented camp offering the ultimate safari in Samburu. Situated just outside Samburu National Reserve in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, the landscape is dotted with mountains, wildlife and a rich cultural heritage. It is a place of abundant natural diversity with an astounding number of animals, from elephants to cheetah and wild dogs to the ‘Samburu Special Five’ (five species unique to the area): the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich.

The beautiful decor and architecture of Sasaab is infused with a Swahili and Moroccan influence and the seven luxurious appointed tents and four family suites, are accompanied with their own private plunge pool. It's high thatched roof and colourful decor compliment the Arabic whitewashed walls to embrace the African heat. Open archways allow for the cool breeze to flow through the accommodation whilst leaving the sides open for panoramic views across the extraordinary landscape.

Samburu Family Suites are perched on the cliff not far from the main horizon pool. The accommodation is spacious, comprising of one double and one twin bedroom, each with their own bathrooms, connected by a central island with plunge pool and entrance area. Private dining can be  arranged on request and each suite comes with an exclusive use safari vehicle.

Westgate Community Conservancy (WCC) is The Safari Collection’s community partnership in Samburu where Sasaab is located. Set up in 2008, Sasaab is run in partnership with the Samburu community of about 10,000 people. Sasaab protects a core area dedicated to wildlife conservation and the lodge predominantly employs its staff directly from the local community.

The Safari Collection runs a variety of free community medical projects each year, has helped in building classrooms and clinics, and provides lunches to over 1,110 students in ten different schools. Since Sasaab opened it has put over one million dollars back into the Westgate Community Conservancy to help them with their own projects including security, roads, schools, clinics and general management.
