This is truly a trip of a lifetime. Travel to the remote town of Churchill in Northern Manitoba on Hudson Bay and stay at Seal River Heritage Lodge where you have endless opportunities to experience unique wilderness activities including guided tundra hikes to witness the polar bears and seeing beluga whales in their natural habitat.

Although beluga whales and polar bears are the main attraction to the Hudson Bay lowlands, the area is teeming with wildlife such as moose, caribou, wolves, arctic fox, black bears, seals and a plethora of migratory and shorebirds.

Five days of activities from Seal River Heritage Lodge are included, with daily walking tours and trekking through the vastness of the Arctic's flora and fauna, marine tours in search for beluga whales with boat equipped with hydrophones so you can listen to whale songs. Explore the coast on especially adapted all terrain Tundra Trackers in search of polar bears and other wildlife such as beluga whales.

Itinerary

Winnipeg
Take your flight from the UK to Winnipeg, Manitoba. There are opportunities to take stopovers at a number of Canada's or the US east coast gateways en-route. You will stay at the Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel by Lakeview and in the evening will enjoy dinner and have an opportunity to meet the rest of your group and adventure specialist.
Churchill
An early flight this morning will take you to Churchill, enjoy the aerial views of Hudson Bay before landing and transferring to your Seal River Heritage Lodge, which will be your home for the next six days. After a full lunch you will head out and explore Hudson Bay and hopefully witness your first wildlife sightings. Seal River Estuary is a favourite summer spot for huge pods of beluga whales, countless birds and magnificent polar bears. A hearty dinner will be served at the lodge.
Seal Heritage Lodge
The first of your full day of activities. A typical day will start with breakfast at 08:00 departing Seal River Heritage Lodge on one of the wildlife adventures at 09:30. Activities are dependent on both weather and group interest, the lodge will attempt to include at least two marine expeditions by boat during the five days to view beluga whales, seabirds, seals and polar bears. The nine man inflatable boats are equipped with a hydrophone so that you are able to listen to whale songs.
Churchill
Today you may head out on a trekking or walking tour or explore the coast by Tundra Tracker. Trekking and walking tours are normally a daily activity and can range from a short walk to photograph caribou or a full day including a packed lunch so you can explore the Arctic's flora and fauna close up. You may find fox dens, nesting birds and learn more about the wild flowers unique to this area. You may even be lucky enough to sight polar bears from a safe distance.
Churchill
There are a vast range of activities on offer at Seal River Heritage Lodge, today you may have the opportunity to join and exploration of Hudson Bay by Zodiac. Sea kayaks and canoes are available for you to use at any time during your five day adventure. In the evening you may witness the greatest light show on earth with the late summer aurora borealis (northern lights).
Churchill
Your final day of activities at Seal River Heritage Lodge. You may wish to take to the water on another marine tour to spot beluga whales, or join a group for bird watching, the area is home to 150 species of bird and the lodges expert guides can help you identify and locate a wide variety of them during your stay at the lodge.
Winnipeg
After a hearty breakfast at Seal River Heritage Lodge you will take your flight back to Churchill, where you will spend the remainder of the day to browse the shops and explore the town. We recommend a visit to the Eskimo Museum with its vast range of Inuit artifacts and carvings. Lunch and dinner is at your own expense today. In the evening you will return to Churchill Airport for your flight to Winnipeg, where you will overnight at the The Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel by Lakeview.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning and prepare for your flight back to the UK, or maybe take a stopover in Montreal or Toronto.
