A rail adventure aboard the iconic Rocky Mountaineer taking you through Canada’s raw wilderness, much of which is protected by National Parks. Watch out of the window for wildlife such as elk, bears and moose, bald eagles and ospreys. Travel up through the clouds to Canada’s mighty Rocky Mountains, carving a route along the Thompson River and through mountain passes until you reach the charming alpine town of Jasper.
Day 1 - Vancouver to Kamloops
Board the iconic Rocky Mountaineer for your two-day rail adventure to the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Meander through Fraser Valley’s fertile farmland and follow the Fraser River into the desert-like environment of British Columbia’s interior. As the tracks carve their way through forests and winding river canyons, you will slow down as you pass by Hell’s Gate, a canyon where Fraser River narrows and the waters run rampant. Follow Thompson River to Kamloops where you will spend the night.
Day 2 - Kamloops to Jasper
Continue your Rocky Mountaineer journey along the North Thompson River, with the train slowing down for the best viewing possibilities of the breath-taking Pyramid Falls before carving its way through Yellowhead Pass. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as elk, moose and bear as you pass through Canada’s wilderness and pass teal-green lakes as you climb up into the mountains and marvel at the Canadian Rockies’ highest peak, Mount Robson. Cross the border in to Alberta and on to Jasper.
