Itinerary

Phnom Penh was once considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the Orient, and despite its recent turbulent history, it still retains a colonial charm. This afternoon depart on a city tour in a typical cyclo visiting Wat Phnom, the National Museum and the Royal Palace, home to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This evening relax at Raffles’ famous Elephant Bar.
This morning will give you an insight into local life. Enjoy a cycling tour along the far bank of the Mekong River and onto a small nearby island with farmland, small villages and silk weaving houses. Return for lunch at Le Lotus Blanc, a training restaurant that provides education and job training to street children. This afternoon gain insight into Cambodia’s recent dark history on a visit to the remarkable Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and onwards to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
Fly from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Siem Reap is the base for exploring the fabled temples of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer empire. This afternoon, visit the ancient city of Angkor Thom - the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire - by local tuk tuk. Then on to Bayon Temple, well-known for its 54 towers with enigmatic faces
Start early to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat – it surely is a memorable experience to see the first rays of the sun slowly appear over the five iconic towers. Return to the hotel and relax by the pool or with a treatment in the spa. In the late afternoon enjoy a relaxing cruise, with drinks and canapés, in a gondola paddle boat at the moat of Angkor Thom while watching sunset at Prasat Chroung temple
Learn the art of Khmer cuisine at Raffles this morning with the Royal Khmer Cuisine Cooking Class; starting with a trip to the local market and ending with lunch that you have helped prepare. In the afternoon travel into the countryside: visiting the Golden Silk Pheach Farm, before continuing onto the pretty temple of Banteay Srei, the “Citadel of the Women”.
This morning is all about art and crafts. Visit Artisans d'Angkor, a visit of the arts and crafts school will take you through the various training and production workshops of les Artisans d'Angkor. Discover the traditional techniques used to sculpt in wood, carve stone, lacquer, polychrome and stone patina, with explanations from a dedicated guide. Continue to visit the studio of Cambodian artist Lim Muy Theam (Theam's Gallery). This afternoon take a boat trip on Tonlé Sap Lake where you will have the opportunity to learn about life on the lake.
Depart Siem Reap for your journey home or extend your stay with a beach break, city stopover, or explore further in Vietnam, Laos or Thailand.
