Itinerary

Board your flight from London bound for Kolkata.
Upon arrival in India you will be transferred to your hotel. This itinerary features a choice of excellent Kolkata hotels; you will stay at either The Oberoi Grand or Glenburn Penthouse, with breakfast included. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to relax in your hotel or start your exploration of India’s second largest city. Accommodation: The Oberoi Grand or Glenburn Penthouse
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading out on an exclusive walking tour from Calcutta Walks. The ‘In the Footsteps of the Raj’ walk transports visitors through the colonial history of this bustling city. Accommodation: The Oberoi Grand or Glenburn Penthouse.
Today you have a full day to explore Kolkata as you wish. Your Travel Specialist can recommend and arrange a number of optional excursions and activities for you, including an exciting tram ride through the city, an exclusive cruise along the River Hooghly or a visit to the grand Marble Palace. Accommodation: The Oberoi Grand or Glenburn Penthouse.
Enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel, before transferring to board the Ganges Voyager for your cruise. Enjoy lunch onboard, before heading out on your afternoon excursion, where you will see Mother Teresa’s house and visit her tomb. This evening enjoy dinner and a cultural performance onboard the ship. Accommodation: Ganges Voyager.
After breakfast and a sightseeing tour of Kolkata, the Ganges Voyager will sail upstream as you eat lunch. Your journey will take you through the city’s colonial history, and past many European settlement sites. In the afternoon head out on an excursion to Bandel, where you will visit the impressive Hooghly Imambara mosque. Accommodation: Ganges Voyager.
This morning embark on a rickshaw tour through the city of Kalna before arriving at the captivating Rajbari temple complex. Admire the intricate architecture and immerse yourself in the history of this site with temples that date back to the 18th century.Accommodation: Ganges Voyager.
Spend the morning browsing some of the bazaars in Matiari, known for hand-crafted brass. This afternoon continue the cruise, passing the historic Plassey battlefield, where the East India Company cemented its rule in 1757. Accommodation: Ganges Voyager
Today is packed full of activities. In the morning visit Khushbagh and its picturesque walled garden, before sailing on towards the Hazarduari Palace, passing Baranagar and a host of charming villages en route. A scenic ride by local buggy takes you to the Katra Masjid mosque, an impressive and important building. Dine onboard this evening, accompanied by a local cultural performance. Mayapur is considered a holy and sacred place. This was the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, considered an incarnation of Krishna. Here you will also find the headquarters of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (Hare Krishna movement). Accommodation: Ganges Voyager
This fascinating place has an extensive history of colonisation, and is largely known as a former French colony, having been ceded to India by France in 1951. There are a wealth of historical sites and attractions to explore here, and those with a sweet tooth will be pleased to know Chandannagar is known for excellent desserts! After your final breakfast onboard the Ganges Voyager disembark in Kolkata and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Kolkata further, relax in your hotel or enjoy an optional excursion which our team of Travel Specialists will be happy to arrange for you.Accommodation: The Oberoi Grand or Glenburn Penthouse.
