Botswana was named at the very top of Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel 2016’ list, and continues to thrive as one of the most exciting destinations in the world.

This tour takes in the best of Botswana’s many highlights, from the views over the Okavango Delta to experiencing the majesty of wildlife up close. We’ve combined the nature, wildlife and culture of Botswana with the comfort of two of Sanctuary Retreats’ safari lodges, which will lend your trip a level of comfort and luxury while staying true to the safari experience.

Itinerary

Arrive in Botswana on your overnight flight from the UK to Kasane.
You will spend the next three days exploring the area around Chobe National Park. Today, arrive at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero and check in. The resort is nestled on the banks of the Chobe River and offers guests truly spectacular views. The resort has one honeymoon suite and 14 luxury cottages, each of which are well-equipped with indoor and outdoor showers, an en suite bathroom and a private garden.
Chobe National Park is home to Africa’s largest elephant population, and today you will enjoy morning and afternoon safari drives as well as an evening cruise. As well as elephant herds, large groups of buffalo can be spotted here, as well as crocodiles, hippos, lions and various species of birds.
Another full day to explore the park. Visitors can tour the park by river cruise, which offers a new perspective and is perfect for photographers. Alternatively, your Travel Specialist will be happy to arrange additional trips or excursions to enhance your experience.
Today you will move on to Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp, on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. The camp is designed in traditional safari style, with eight tents each overlooking the delta and floodplains. Built with the local environment in mind, the camp has a bar and swimming pool, which is perfect for unwinding in after a day of exploring.
The Okavango Delta is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, and today you will spend the day exploring this fascinating landscape. Depending on the season, you can cruise along the delta in a mokoro – a traditional canoe. This oasis is a great destination for wildlife lovers and several endangered and rare animals call it home, including the cheetah and both Black and White rhinoceroses.
Today you have another day to explore the area around the camp and the delta. Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp can arrange optional game drives, safari walks and helicopter flights over the delta; the camp’s location also means it’s possible to see large numbers of elephants passing by, and the camp’s ‘Living With Elephants’ experience (additional cost) is a great way to see these iconic African mammals up close.
Head to Maun airport for your return journey to the UK.
