The rooms and suites at The Pendry have been designed with San Diego itself firmly in mind, with surf and beach-themed photography splayed on the walls, blue hues mimicking the ocean and retro-chic furnishings feeling fully at home here: think smart, wooden desks and vintage leather headboards above the beds. Specialty Suites

Comprising floorplans that range between 1,080-1,500sq ft, filled with sumptuous design touches and lots of mod-cons, the Specialty Suites are well worth upgrading to for one of the top places to stay in San Diego. The Cabana Pool Suite sports its own private cabana and direct pool access, the Gaslamp Quarter Suite comes with a spacious outdoor terrace and fantastic city views, while the Pendry Suite is the hotel’s best, complete with a billiards table in the lounge.

Grand Suite

A 670sq ft suite complete with a king bedroom, panoramic city and bay views through floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate living room, wet bar, and light-filled bathroom with twin sinks.

Corner Suite

The 650sq ft Corner Suite also features a bedroom with king-size bed though this time generous downtown vistas, plus a separate living room, wet bar, and light-filled bathroom with twin sinks.

Superior Room

The Superior Rooms are situated on the lower floors of the hotel, come with 350sq ft of space and all Pendry in-room extras.

Facilities/Amenities

While The Pendry San Diego is without a doubt alive with entertainment options, there are also spaces in which to take some time out too. Escape to The Pool House on the third floor for a spot of sunbathing and a dip in the outdoor pool, or enjoy some downtime in the spa, offering an array of ocean-themed massages, body wraps and polishes, facials, manicures and pedicures. Oxford Social Club

This glamorous nightclub is at once gorgeously cosy and super cool. Wooden floors, mismatched furniture of plush velvet and weathered leather, Oriental rugs, glitzy lighting and cutting-edge artwork combine to create a space that is at once somewhere to lounge with a cocktail or dance the night away.

The Pool House

Retreat to the soothing atmosphere of this chic rooftop lounging space. A shaded bar with comfy sofas, all decked out in natural fabrics, opens out to the pool area and views of the city. Cool off with an array of fruity or refreshingly spiced cocktails, and tuck into one of their salads, wraps or burgers here.

Nason’s Beer Hall

A truly American dining venue with big screens, bar games and live music nights. Make sure to come here with an appetite – tacos, wings, burgers and hot dogs are the order of the day, all washed down with a fine selection of craft beers.

Fifth & Rose

Fifth & Rose is a stylish space with a polished, black bar, potted palm trees and high ceilings lit by chandeliers. The signature cocktails – Cedar, Black Maple, English Elm – are all named after trees, adding a fresh, fun, natural flavour to the menu. There are also tasty light bites available throughout the afternoon and evening, while on Sundays, a live jazz band adds a further touch of class.

Lionfish

At Lionfish, the focus is on wholesome produce that is both sustainably and locally sourced, with the Pacific Ocean providing much of the restaurant’s seasonal ingredients. Oysters, whole lobster, king crab and grilled octopus feature alongside sushi, sashimi and speciality fish rolls. Come early to make the most of the long list of wines, cocktails and spirits here, relaxing into this warmly lit, welcoming space with industrial-inspired furnishings, or sit out on the sun-dappled terrace during long summer evenings.
