Hotel information
Although the Royal Palms Resort & Spa has always been a glam mansion here in the Sonoran Desert, protected by Camelback Mountain and with easy access to both Scottsdale and Downtown Phoenix, today’s five-star incarnation of the property takes luxury levels up a notch, compared with a relatively more modest beginning.
The original Spanish colonial-style architecture actually remains, as do the much-loved gardens, palms, rose beds and stone fountains, though in addition to all that, the nostalgic fireplaces and terracotta roof tiles, modernity discretely lurks.
It means that while certain guestrooms and suites enjoy wrought-iron balconies, exposed wooden beams and antique-style furnishings, each is also a place of smart-room controls, HDTVs and a high-end minibar, walk-in rain showers and premium king-size beds too.
Then there’s the spa, with its organic oil-infused treatments and Jacuzzi pool, plus a charming maze of courtyard gardens around the grounds, sun patios, a lovely oval swimming pool, sunbeds and private cabanas primed for the Royal Palms Resort & Spa’s highly-regarded food and beverage service. It comes courtesy of the Cabana Café’s gourmet poolside offerings of fine wine and tapas, cocktails, seafood treats and so much more; the same can be said for T. Cooks, Royal Palms’ main, exceptional restaurant, though private dining experiences are big here too.
So, having booked your room at the Royal Palms Resort & Spa, you can be sure the gastronomy is sublime whether by the pool or tucked away enjoying a romantic meal just for two; rooms and suites are both generously sized and beautifully adorned; hotel grounds luscious and lovely to look at; while your location is quite literally hand-picked too. You’re almost equidistant between Downtown Phoenix and Scottsdale, meaning that day trips, shopping and the best local restaurants couldn’t be easier.
Yet, with live music each evening at the Mix Up Bar, yoga and tai chi classes, a modern gym, pools and spa onsite, you may not wish to venture far at all while unwinding at the iconic Royal Palms Resort & Spa, Arizona.
Room Options
All accommodation options at the Royal Palms Resort & Spa are an intriguing mix of styles, where many original features meet clear European nods through ornaments and artworks, as well as antique-style furniture though also fully modern amenities dotted throughout. It may sound like a lot, but this is one of the most refined and carefully considered luxury hotels in Arizona, so they pull it off perfectly well.
Almost every room features French windows and some kind of terrace or furnished patio, plus one king-size or two double beds, a standalone deep-soak bathtub, walk-in rain shower, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, iPod docks and in some, a separate living room with fireplace.
Standard Room
Standard Rooms come with a few different layout options, available with either one king-size or two double beds, some also featuring a furnished patio too, as well as all high-end Royal Palms amenities and those generously-equipped bathrooms.Casitas
Casitas come with a furnished patio, king-size beds, iPod dock and for some, a cosy fireplace and courtyard views as well as all high-end Royal Palms amenities and those generously-equipped bathrooms.Deluxe Rooms and Suites
The Deluxe Room and Suite category at Royal Palms Resort & Spa are each a slightly different layout, though do all boast a furnished patio or balcony, separate dining and lounge space, and views of the mountain as well as all high-end Royal Palms amenities and those generously-equipped bathrooms.Villas
Villas represent a significant step up in their layout and available space, each (of only six) having its pick of location throughout the Royal Palms Resort grounds. You’ll find multi-bedroom options with both lounge and dining areas, some with extra-large garden/patios and in the Presidential Villa, a private plunge pool too; just brilliant.Facilities/Amenities
The Royal Palms Resort & Spa doesn’t just look the part; there is substance, facilities and five-star services on offer throughout this luxury Arizona hotel too. Start with the Rosewood’s spa, a confection of bare stone treatment rooms, a sunken Jacuzzi pool, gym, yoga and tai chi classes surrounded by verdant gardens that also house an outdoor swimming pool, private cabanas and sun patio. You’ll get valet parking and a superb concierge team at your disposal, a beauty salon, plus plenty of lawns and outdoor seating areas to enjoy.
Restaurants & Bars
T. Cooks
T. Cooks is one of the best fine dining restaurants around. Inside is an ambient den of exposed brickwork and wine bottles lining the walls, either for a sit-down meal or stunning, daily-prepared buffet spread, while their al fresco dining patio then feels like an atmospheric European courtyard, surrounded by foliage and complete with an outdoor fireplace. Royal Palms proudly suggest that T. Cooks takes its menu cues from the best of the Med, though in truth this is simply a superb Arizona restaurant that turns a gourmet hand to absolutely everything it serves up, no matter where the inspiration came from.

Via Cappello and Private Dining
Royal Palms Resort & Spa proudly sports a secluded dining area called Via Cappello, which doesn’t just model its looks on an idyllic Italian backstreet, but often serves the kind of delectable food you’d expect to find down one too! There are then a host of other intimate spots ‘just for two’ throughout the grounds, as private dining experiences are big on the gastronomic agenda here.

Activities & Entertainment
Royal Palms Resort & Spa offers equally good access to both Scottsdale and Downtown Phoenix, meaning that highlights of each – as well as nearby Biltmore Fashion Park – are at your fingertips.
At the resort itself, you have yoga and tai chi classes courtesy of that all-encompassing spa, and when evening comes, the live music and cocktails hosted by Mix Up Bar always make for an entertaining evening. Children are welcome at the Royal Palms Resort & Spa, though there are far more family-friendly options available as things tend to be geared up towards adults here.
