Full accommodation information

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is a superlative clifftop resort. Set some 2,000 metres above sea level, the views from Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar are truly sublime. You may have even seen this amazing Oman hotel on the BBC Two programme "Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Hotel".

With 115 rooms and villas, accommodation options are varied to suit the size and needs of your party. Each boasts Omani furniture, traditional décor and Amouage bath products, while the villas have personal butler service and their own private swimming pool.

The six restaurants and lounges ensure a wide variety of fine fare is on the menu, from tapas to fresh grilled seafood, sourced from the Sea of Oman. Guests with an inquisitive mind will revel in the ‘Spice Spoons’ experience, where they will accompany a chef to a local souq and to the resort’s garden to be talked through the vibrant ingredients used in Omani cooking.

Thanks to its position perched high on the Green Mountain, conditions year-round are much cooler than on the coast, and perfectly placed for exploring local cultural attractions such as the UNESCO World Heritage site Birkat al Mouz. After a day spent exploring, guests can kick back at the cliff-edge infinity pool, or head to the exceptional Anantara Spa for a relaxing treatment and dip in the indoor pool.

Younger guests - who will benefit from the cooler climate here - have also been carefully considered, with a kids’ and teens club designed to inspire young minds and enthuse them about this unique environment. A ‘must’ for all guests during their stay is Anantara’s Friday night market; a great place to pick up souvenirs and handicrafts.

  • Enjoy a private dining experience with a personal butler and chef, served on ‘Diana’s Point’ – the site at which the late Princess arrived by helicopter to the Green Mountain in 1986.
  • Discover Oman’s Grand Canyon on a scenic drive with spectacular views and fantastic photo opportunities.
  • For extra space and privacy choose a villa with your own pool, and for ultimate indulgence ask your Travel Specialist about the vast Three Bedroom Royal Mountain Villa.
  • The resort’s location makes any visit here an experience, but the Cultural Walks to explore the local area are a great addition to your trip. On the ‘Rose Water of Al Jabal Al Akhdar’ tour you will be guided by an expert to learn all about the traditions and process behind making rose water.

In a resolute effort to combat plastic pollution, the resort has taken a significant stride by eliminating single-use plastics. Glass bottles and biodegradable straws are now the norm across all dining areas, ensuring that guests can indulge guilt free.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar also has a big heart for its furry neighbours, as it has established a cat shelter using leftovers from its kitchen to feed the strays daily. This heartwarming initiative not only minimises food waste, but also supports the local community.

Moreover, the resort prioritises responsible sourcing of ingredients; locally-sourced produce takes centre stage in its restaurant and eggs come exclusively from cage-free hens. Additionally, food packaging has also been minimised to reduce waste.

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is a staunch advocate for community involvement. Through its 'Dollars For Deeds' program, guests have the opportunity to make a positive impact by contributing to local environmental and animal rescue groups, children with special needs, and the Oman Cancer Association.
