Set on a 36,000-acre working sheep farm in the Southern Alps, Flockhill Homestead & Villas is an ultra-exclusive alpine retreat, showcasing the very best of New Zealand’s high country.

Flockhill Homestead & Villas offers a one-of-a-kind rural escape. Established in 1857 as part of the historic Craigieburn grazing run, it’s now a 36,000-acre working sheep station, home to around 11,600 sheep. The views are absolutely jaw-dropping, with the Southern Alps as your backdrop, and if you love hiking, you’re just a stone's throw away from the famed Arthur’s Pass.

When it comes to where you stay, Flockhill doesn’t do ordinary. If you’ve got a big family or group of friends, or are celebrating something special, the four-bedroom Homestead is perfect. You get the entire place to yourselves, complete with a private chef who whips up a new, delicious menu every day.

Flockhill also has seven, two-bedroom villas onsite with king suites, lounges, and private decks – ideal for couples, small families, or friends traveling together. The villas can even be split into individual suites for a more tailored experience.

Dining at Sugarloaf restaurant is exceptional, with an emphasis on fresh, homegrown ingredients and open-flame cooking. The menu is a celebration of New Zealand’s finest produce, much of it homemade or grown right on the property. For a seriously special dining experience, the Chef’s Table is a ‘must try’, serving up a curated multi-course menu, right in the heart of the kitchen.

Finally, no visit to Flockhill would be complete without exploring the great outdoors. Embark on a boulder hike (which the Dalai lama famously called the spiritual centre of the universe), horse riding, and heli tours – the adventures are endless!

Homestead

The Homestead is a fully self-contained, high-country retreat with four bedrooms, each offering breathtaking views of Lake Pearson, Sugarloaf, Purple Hill, and beyond.

Inside, you’ll find a farmhouse kitchen, which will be serviced by your own private chef and attendant preparing three gourmet meals daily, all included in your stay. In between meals, enjoy nightly canapés, homemade snacks and soft drinks.

Other highlights of the Homestead include a walled barbeque area, a media room with indoor-outdoor music system, spacious living and dining areas, a bar, a private tepid pool, a hot spa, and a firepit for evenings spent sitting out under the stars.

Villas

Stay in one of seven two-bedroom villas at Flockhill, each boasting panoramic views of Lake Pearson, Sugarloaf, Purple Hill, and the vast Craigieburn Valley. These complexes can be configured as either a full villa or split into a Junior Suite and a Deluxe Suite with a lounge.

The Deluxe Suite and complete villa include a kitchenette, a cosy lounge with a fireplace, and a private deck with outdoor seating.

Enjoy all-inclusive dining at Sugarloaf, with the option to take your lunch as a picnic, and complimentary soft drinks. Your villa or suite stay also includes two ‘Flockhill Experiences’ daily; these carefully curated adventures are designed to immerse you in the outstanding alpine beauty of New Zealand’s Southern Alps.
