Situated on a sunny, south-facing plateau above Rhone Valley, Crans-Montana is a union of two towns, glistening on either side of Etang Genon Lake. With a majestic mountain backdrop, offering panoramic views from Matterhorn to Mont Blanc, your trip to this ski resort will win you over even before your skiing starts.
There’s 140km of pistes at Crans-Montana spread across four areas, most of which are located above 2,000m for optimum snow conditions. Across the pistes, you’ll find runs suited to all abilities. First-timers are best heading to the gentle beginner slopes set beyond the edge of the forest, while advanced skiers can ride a chair lift up to La Toula to seek out a more challenging ski slope. The Piste Nationale is a popular spot for all confident skiers, being the longest in the region.
Off the slopes, you can take a scenic tobogganing route down the length of Montana-Arnouva or soar up to the peak of Plaine Morte on a Funitel (cable car). There’s a grotto nestled in a glacier at the summit here, offering some breathtaking views across the Swiss Valais below.
A successful arena for winter sports, Crans-Montana also stands as host to a range of hotels, alpine shopping boutiques and award-winning restaurants. Brimming with entertainment, the region draws in visitors from all over the world, with easy access routes from Geneva Airport (just a two hour drive away, or two and a half to three hours by train).
Whether you’re indulging the family with a ski holiday to Crans Montana, or travelling as a couple, this beautiful resort has a wide range of hotels to accommodate your stay. The charmed chalet hotel Six Senses Crans Montana is conveniently located right on the slopes, and it's an ideal choice for families.
