Hotel information
The latest addition to Resplendent Ceylon’s portfolio, Wild Coast Tented Lodge brings luxury to the fascinating wilderness of Yala, on Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
This is a safari camp, but not as you know it. Tents are actually Cocoon Suites, offering four-poster beds, tall ceilings and double-glazed windows for gazing out at the lush jungle surrounds. Air-conditioning, hot running water, Wi-Fi and a Sonos sound system are just some of the luxe touches here. Committed to sustainability, the lodge harnesses solar power for heating and converts food waste to biogas.
Cocoon Suites are scattered around a watering hole, so you’re likely to spot lots of local birds and wildlife. For an extra touch of luxury, opt for one of the four beachfront Cocoon Pool Suites. For those travelling with little ones, the Family Cocoon comes with an adjoining ‘urchin’ tent for more space and privacy.
Savour local and fresh ingredients in the Dining Hut, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and post-game drive cocktails. Treatments at Sanctuary Spa feature products made with Ceylon tea and Sri Lankan cinnamon. Take a dip in the large infinity pool or, if you’re staying in a Cocoon Pool Suite, in your private plunge pool.
The camp isn’t fenced, so you may be lucky enough to spot some native wildlife from the luxury of your Cocoon. With Yala National Park close by, you’re ideally located for spectacular wildlife experiences; the team at the lodge can arrange game drives with expert guides, lectures and workshops, as well as cultural excursions to ancient sites nearby.
