Hotel information
When it comes to location, it doesn’t get much better than Kandy House.
Nestled amongst tranquil jungle and scenic paddy fields, the property dates back to 1804 and was this region’s first high-end boutique hotel.
Kandy House is all about luxury, and with notable guests including Prince Michael of Kent, you really will feel like royalty during your stay here.
Nine beautifully appointed and wonderfully spacious rooms are set on a six-acre estate, just a few miles from Kandy’s many historic highlights. The hotel is surrounded by picturesque botanical gardens, home to many species of bird, plant and wildlife. In the mornings, you might even spot wild deer and boar wandering the grounds.
Service is typically Sri Lankan – which is to say friendly, unobtrusive, all-encompassing and delivered with the utmost professionalism. This is the perfect place for a grown-up escape – it’s a delightful property for couples, and only children over the age of 12 are permitted. For those travelling with children or friends, extra beds can be provided in some of the guestrooms. Should you be celebrating a special occasion or visiting Sri Lanka on a romantic retreat, ask our Travel Specialists about arranging a private candlelit dinner on your own veranda for an unforgettable evening.
With Kandy close by, many guests choose to spend days exploring the historic city, though the hotel grounds themselves are perfect for whiling away an afternoon. Take a dip in the expansive infinity pool, which is fringed by lush jungle foliage and surrounded by manicured lawns. Head to the garden for a pre-dinner drink, try the small spa for some extra pampering, or borrow one of the hotel’s bicycles and head off on an adventure.
Room Options
Each of Kandy House’s nine rooms offer air-conditioning and are appointed with an elegant array of antiques and local furnishings – from wooden four-poster beds to vintage textiles and traditional wood carvings. Kandy House can be booked as a whole for a private party, and is perfect for a big celebration. Every room offers the service of a private butler and a selection of local natural bath products, and most have private verandas. Kandy House has named each guest room after one of Sri Lanka’s butterfly species.
