Incorporating features such as living walls, solar panels and green roofs, and built using local materials, the resort is a beacon for sustainable and eco-friendly construction while still boasting achingly cool contemporary design throughout.

Sharp-lined architectural structures gently emerge from the soft green foliage and smooth white walls are paired with rustic timber cladding to create a truly unique aesthetic.

The Water Tower is particularly distinctive, this tall slim building houses several rooms with east to west views and a rooftop dining venue, and is almost camouflaged amongst the surrounding trees thanks to its quirky cinnamon bark cladding.

Dotted throughout the forested grounds are a small collection of rooms and suites, each arranged so that you can enjoy blissful views of the lake. Rooms are often set upon private enclaves or next to just one or two other rooms, so each guest gets their own private slice of heaven. Decorated with slick, polished wood features, smooth white surfaces and bright patterned fabrics, each space feels both calming and inviting. Grand windows, often floor-to-ceiling, allow you to get the most out of the scenery and some rooms even feature a private balcony or a private pool.

Tri prides itself on its local philosophy. Not only have all building materials been sourced locally, but so too has the art that adorns the walls and all of the produce used in the one onsite kitchen. Utilising only organic and seasonal ingredients, Tri’s cuisine is at once fresh, healthy and innovative and is sure to be a highlight of any stay. The daily-changing menu features a fusion of authentic Sri Lankan flavours and dishes with an international flare, artfully presented on local handmade earthenware. You can choose to enjoy your freshly prepared meal wherever you like: in your room, beside the pool, on a jetty extending into the lake or even on top of the distinctive Water Tower where your meal is accompanied by 360-degree views of the natural surroundings.

Start each day with a refreshing swim in the lake-edge infinity pool before spending the rest of the day as relaxed or adventurous as you please. For laid-back indulgences, Tri offers a wealth of wellness experiences. Perhaps you’ll head to the elevated yoga shala for a Quantum Yoga Workshop with Lara Baumann or maybe you’ll enjoy Ayurvedic treatments in the resort’s spa, nestled among the treetops.

Or, if you’re after a more active escape during your holiday in Sri Lanka, the surrounding area also offers a wealth of activities and opportunities for exploration. You could follow the stunning circuit around the lake on a bike, or maybe even learn how to climb a coconut tree using just a rope.

Alternatively, you could go bird watching on the lake, or simply find a nice spot to enjoy the scenery.

Our Travel Specialists can also arrange excursions to local tea and cinnamon plantations.

Comprises 12 rooms which east boast a chic, minimalist design, pairing rustic wood furnishings with bright whites, sharp lines and patterned fabrics. Many are split across two levels and feature large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow light to flood into the room. All rooms feature open-style bathrooms equipped with organic Kemara products, as well as a bedroom housing a blissful king-sized bed. Children over the age of 12 are permitted to stay on the day bed upon request.

To add to your experience of the blissful lake setting, Tri offer a range of water and land activities so you can spend your time as relaxed or as active as you like.

The miles of forested trails that line the lake can be explored by foot or bicycle, and guided walks are available if you would like a thorough introduction into the landscape. Or, you can hop on board a boat and explore the waters instead.

To discover the local area, you can also visit a nearby cinnamon producer just across the other side of the lake. On this tour you’ll learn how Sarath and his family have been cultivating this spice for generations.

Tri also helps you to get the most of your visit through cookery classes where you’ll learn how to use local produce, spices and traditional preparation techniques to prepare authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
