Full accommodation information

This unique resort is nestled on the shore of Arugam Bay and ideal for those looking to enjoy Sri Lanka’s spectacular natural environment.

In contrast to the bustling energy of the west coast, the lesser-developed eastern coastline brims with a laid-back, local atmosphere, which is enhanced by Jetwing Surf’s eco-friendly atmosphere.

Comprised of 20 traditional thatched roof cabanas, the resort seems to merge seamlessly with the natural environment. Each has been carefully designed and built to minimise their impact on the surrounding environment, integrating passive cooling techniques and natural materials, without compromising on luxury.

Inside each circular structure, you’ll find decadent features such as a smooth white four-poster bed beneath the thatched vaulted ceiling, curved day beds along each wall and even an indoor/outdoor en suite bathroom.

Because each cabana is set along the oceanfront, you can enjoy ocean views wherever you stay and have the blissful experience of walking right out on to the beach from your doorstep.

When you’re not soaking up the sun on the beach, you can enjoy cooling off in the infinity-edge pool which has a swim-up bar and two distinctive ‘lily pod’ seated areas which are sunken into the pool, so you never have to be too far away from the water.

During the day, you can refresh with a light bite or a cocktail from the pool side bar or enjoy special dining delivered directly to wherever you are: the pool, your cabana, or even the beach. By evening, the main restaurant, set beneath a grand thatched roof structure overlooking the beach, offers an intimate and atmospheric venue to enjoy a mixture of international and local cuisine. Sometimes, the hotel even hosts a grand buffet including a mixture of curries, rice and seafood.

Perfect for beach-lovers and aspiring surfers, this resort offers unparallel access to Pottuvil Point, a region that’s celebrated for its incredible stretch of sand and rolling surf which is mostly deserted except for passing cattle or the occasional fisherman.

Nearby there’s also other popular surfing and beach spots including Peanut Farm, Whiskey Point, Crocodile Rock and Elephant Rock.

Time at the resort can be spent enjoying the sun and spectacular beachfront setting. Swim a few laps at the pool, take a moment to relax on a sunlounger in the shaded terrace or head down to the beach where you can swim, take a surf lesson or play a game of volleyball. Jetwing Surf can also arrange for you to learn how to cook authentic local cuisine at a live cookery demonstration or for you to join a local fisherman to see them bring in the catch of the day.

Or, if you’re looking to explore, the surrounding area is a wonderland of cultural highlights and astounding natural scenery. Nature lovers will enjoy birdwatching on the nearby lakes which include Panama Lake, Semanikulam Lake and Rotakulam, visiting the nearby Lahugala National Park where you can see wild elephants and boat safaris on the Pottuval Lagoon or Urani River. Or for culture-seekers, our travel specialists can arrange a guided tour of the Kudumbigala Monastery and the religious temples Magul Maha Viharaya and Sastrawela Maninaga Pabbatha Viharaya.
