“I recently travelled to LUX* Belle Mare, a stunning resort in Mauritius where the modern boutique resort boasts a contemporary stylish design. However, the property is not just a resort, it’s an experience! From the fresh coffee at the entrance to the delicious cocktails on the beach, this was somewhere I never wanted to leave.

Situated on one of the widest beaches of the eastern coast of Mauritius, and with indulgent little extras at every turn, it’s certainly the setting for a very memorable holiday and the perfect place for honeymoons, family breaks and luxurious romantic getaways. What’s more, with the largest pool on the island and extra touches to make you feel at home, there really is nowhere else like it.

I have listed below 10 of the amazing experiences you can enjoy throughout the resort that make it so unique and unlike anywhere else. And my top tip? Upgrade to all-inclusive to get the most out of your stay and all this incredible resort offers…

1. Cafe LUX*

As soon as you walk into the lobby you are welcomed by friendly staff, aromatic scents and an amazing coffee station. The hotel supplies their very own roastery which means fresh coffee from their own LUX* brand every day. Guests are invited into the back to watch how the coffee is roasted on a daily basis and you can grab a coffee to go or sit and enjoy a drink and a cake at the café itself. I think this is such a unique idea as a good coffee is something I always yearn for when on holiday! Their coffee brand became such a hit that it is now a franchise found in airports and shopping centres, and all the coffee and cakes are included on an all-inclusive board basis, which is a bonus.

2. The restaurants

LUX* Belle Mare provides four incredible restaurants to suit any food craving you might have. Duck Laundry is an Asian restaurant providing delicious contemporary Chinese dishes with many featuring duck as their speciality. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of teas and Asian spirits to add to the experience. Their Indian restaurant Amari by Vineet is the new place to eat, with a menu by Vineet Bhatia; a Michelin-starred chef who won his first star at Zakia in London in 2001, followed by two more in 2006 and 2009. At MIXE you can enjoy all-day dining whilst sitting by the gorgeous pool. With everything from fresh breakfasts to hot curry at the live cooking stations (which guests can participate in), this dining choice offers many different cuisines. Beach Rouge is the perfect place to dine day or night. In the day the colour scheme is a fresh turquoise colour and then changes to a vibrant red theme in the evening. Beach Rouge’s lounge is the perfect place for cocktails and tapas while listening to the live DJ.

3. The beach

The beach is where most guests prefer to spend their time when in sunny Mauritius and at LUX* Belle Mare it couldn’t get better in my eyes, with soft white sands and turquoise water. I thought this was the perfect location to relax under the palm trees on a hammock or sunbed. You can order cocktails, snacks and activity reservations from your sunbed with the ‘Buzz Me’ button so you don’t need to move all day, and in the evening you can enjoy the delicious beach barbeque and under the stars movies.

4. El Jefe

Although the resort provides a huge amount of little unique experiences, one of the best for me was the Cuban-themed food truck. This is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat, whether it’s hot dogs, nachos or a burger, there’s something for everyone. Plus, it’s a prime photo spot thanks to its 1933 Rolls Royce. Sometimes the resort also opens El Jefe in the evening with a live jazz band.

5. ‘Phone Home’

A truly unique detail at the resort that really stood out to me was the ‘Phone Home Box’. This classic telephone box allows you to call anywhere in the world for free. I have never been anywhere that has this idea and I thought it was such a useful and memorable concept for all guests.

6. Tea House

The boutique Tea House and library is the perfect place to relax and try something new, with 88 different teas and infusions from 40 different countries. Lux* offers complimentary tea tasting every day and the library provides books from all over the world, making it the perfect retreat for some downtime out of the sun.

7. LUX* Me Spa

The LUX* Me Spa is the ideal place to create a relaxing experience. The spa provides a jacuzzi, cold or warm pools and special relaxation areas, and all of the products are organic-based Lux* products which you can purchase to take home. As soon as I walked into the spa I felt immediately calm thanks to the gorgeous environment and I would definitely recommend booking in for treatments to try out the wonderful products for yourself.

8. Activities

LUX* provide numerous activities to suit everyone’s needs. From a game of golf on any of the three world-class courses to watersports or swimming with dolphins, you will be sure to find something to suit you. Beach horse riding is one of the favourites for guests of LUX* Belle Mare.

9. ‘Cinema Paradiso’

One of my favourite unique experiences at this property was certainly the outdoor Cinema Paradiso. The cinema provides a fantastic selection of popcorn and candy floss and is located next to the beach where you can chill with your family and friends on the beanbags watching your favourite flicks.

10. ‘Tree of Wishes’

Another lovely touch at the resort is the ‘Tree of Wishes’. Guests can write down their wish, the date they visited and be in for a chance of winning a stay back at the resort if they are picked from the final draw. To make it extra special, hotel employees can write back to guests’ wishes via email.”
