Itinerary

Begin your voyage with a tour of the resplendent Ananda Temple. Completed in 1091 AD, it is commonly referred to as one of the four great temples in Bagan. Then enjoy a majestic sunset over the Bagan pains.
Today you might take an optional early morning balloon tour and enjoy incredible birds-eye views of the Bagan plain. Or maybe visit the vibrant market of Nyaung U and get a taste of traditional life in Bagan.
Visit the pagoda lined Sagaing Hill, an area home to 554 monasteries that are inhabited by around 6,000 monks and nuns. Followed by a trip up the hill on the terraces of the Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda for incredible views.
Take part in a morning tour of Madalay including a visit to the magnificent Shwenandaw Monastery. Then spend your afternoon at a gold leaf beating workshop and see how the gold that adorns Buddha statues is produced.
Witness a traditional way of life in this unspoilt paradise that is seldom seen by outsiders. When the Village Chief’s requested a library and a house for an English teacher, Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy made their dreams possible.
Today you will make your way to the top of Tan Chi Taung mountain and revel in the unmatched views of the Bagan plain. Then watch an Elephant dance - an age old acrobatic dance that takes place on the shore.
Spend your day at the Kyauk Gu U Min Temple – one of only four temples in the region that have been built from stone brick. Known as the ‘Rock Cave Tunnel’, this cave-like temple is the perfect place to meditate.
Arrive back in Bagan and disembark from Sanctuary Ananda. If you are departing on a flight later in the day you will even have time to undertake a morning guided tour of beautiful Bagan.
