Itinerary

Fly overnight from the UK to Santiago, Chile, and take a private transfer to Santiago Marriott Hotel for your one-night pre-cruise stay. This striking 40-story tower hotel is situated in the Las Condes business district, close to top-class restaurants, expansive museums, unusual architecture and lovely parks.
Take a private transfer to Santiago airport for your flight to Puerto Williams, Argentina, where you’ll join expedition ship Silver Wind in Puerto Williams for a ten-night cruise. On board, you’ll find a choice of four dining venues, an incredible theatre, spa, and pool deck with bubbling whirlpools. Get settled into your Vista Suite with large picture windows offering panoramic ocean views.
Embark on a two-day crossing of the legendary Drake Passage. As you sail south towards the icy world of Antarctica, you’ll have opportunities to spot soaring Albatrosses circling above and pods of inquisitive humpback whales. Silversea’s industry-leading expedition team is made of historians, Ornithologists and geologists, who host enriching lectures and workshops on board so you can learn more about the unique wildlife, history, and geology of the white continent.
The Antarctic Sound will be one of your first encounters of this remote whitewashed kingdom, located at the northerly tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. Journey down this narrow channel and come face-to-face with enormous ice shelves, hence the area’s nickname ‘Iceberg Alley’. You’ll have the chance to kayak icy waters or hop into a Zodiac to get up close to penguin rookeries, or hike to see a research station for a glimpse into life in this harsh environment.
Snow-blanketed landscapes and craggy ice sculptures make up Earth’s least-explored continent, resulting in a harshly beautiful land. The vast Antarctic Peninsula is sprinkled with research bases where scientists push to study and understand this unique landscape. There are many shore excursions via Zodiacs, so you can access hidden bays to see penguin and seal colonies and take hikes to elevated Antarctic peaks for fantastic photo opportunities.
Cruise the Bransfield Strait to the South Shetland Islands archipelago, made up of more than 20 islands and islets. You’ll see more penguin rookeries and seal-filled beaches, remains of whaling stations and several scientific research centres on King George Island, operated even throughout the long, dark winters. Be wowed by Deception Island’s magnificent collapsed volcano caldera, take a polar plunge at Pendulum Cove and stop by Elephant Island.
Spend the next two days crossing back over the iconic Drake Passage. You’ll be able to see millions of seabirds circling overhead, and the onboard team will keep you entertained throughout with lectures and hands-on projects. Plus, you make the most of the onboard facilities. You'll arrive at Puerto Williams in the evening of the 12th day.
Disembark for your transfer to Puerto Williams airport to board your flight back to Chile. Then, take a private transfer to your hotel in Santiago for your one-night post-cruise stay before your flight back to the UK.
Take a private transfer to Santiago de Chile Airport and board your overnight return flight to London.
