Wind your way around the lava-forged Galapagos Islands on this incredible 17-day tour aboard the all-inclusive Silver Origin. Cruising from rocky coast to coast, become acquainted with all the islands’ famously fearless creatures, gaze into deep blue lagoons and snorkel in the Pacific Ocean.

Before beginning your cruise around the islands, enjoy stopovers in Lima and Cusco’s Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Enjoy a mix of activities to kickstart your adventure, from luxurious relaxation at the Country Club Lima Hotel and sunrise hikes up the steep steps of Wanay Picchu to informative tours through Sacred Valley’s indigenous villages.

Then, you’ll fly from Cusco to Quito to embark Silver Origin, where your Galapagos adventure begins in the age-old remains of San Cristobal. Home to the famous Charles Darwin statue, this island sets the scene for a wildlife tour of a lifetime. As you move through the islets, you’ll come face to face with teems of friendly creatures, from giant sea turtles to flamingos and rarely sighted birds. Trek across each rugged landscape, keeping track of your discoveries, soaking up the fresh sea air, the rugged mountain views and the tranquil spirit of these scarcely populated lands.

There’s no better vessel to explore the Galapagos Islands on than Silver Origin, Silversea’s first destination-specific built ship. Set with a team of Ecuadorian expert guides, an attentive crew and eight Zodiacs for nature viewing excursions, every aspect of your experience will be smooth sailing. Spend your evenings at sea, fine dining in one of the ship’s island-inspired restaurants, working out at the fitness centre, or sinking into a full-body massage at the spa. Then, settle into your opulent modern suite for the night, with a personal butler on call and a private teak veranda offering panoramic views of each island as you arrive and depart.

Itinerary

Fly overnight from the UK to Lima and transfer to your hotel for a luxurious one-night stay.
Enjoy a relaxing stay at Country Club Lima Hotel, a place thick in grandeur, history and even mystery! The original building was constructed in the 1920s but has been restored to 21st-Century standards while also preserving its Hispanic architecture – an icon in one of the capital’s most exclusive areas.
Today, you’ll experience a private city tour of Lima and Larco Museum. Learn about the two characters of Lima: the modern one, reflected in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro; and the historic one, encapsulated in its historic UNESCO World Heritage-listed centre. Then visit Rafael Larco Herrera Museum, exhibiting a valuable collection of almost 45,000 pieces of pre-Hispanic cultures.
Fly from Lima to the Inca capital of Cusco.
Discover Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo on a private tour. From gazing out towards Urubamba Valley to visiting the salt mines where the world’s finest salt is extracted, this experience of the Sacred Valley is one to always remember. Head to an archaeological complex strategically located atop a mountain and tour a local town which stands out for maintaining its Inca urban planning.
Immerse yourself in an enriching experience that begins in the community of Misminay. Upon arrival, the community will welcome you with their traditional music and dance. From here, you can take part in daily activities, whether it be construction, cooking or working in the fields. Learn about millenary textile art or take a walk to a nearby viewpoint before enjoying a delicious lunch.
Take a scenic train ride to Agua Calientes, the closest town to Machu Picchu, before heading to the famous Inca citadel. Explore the remnants of this 'lost city' at your own pace before venturing to the mountain-top hotel for a delicious dinner at Tampu restaurant.
Return to Machu Picchu as the sun rises to catch its early morning glow and enjoy some leisure time. Then take a private transfer from Poroy station to Cusco hotel. Overnight at Inkaterra La Casona.
Head on a private tour and visit archaeological sites. Appreciate how Andean and Spanish cultures coexist in harmony in the Imperial City before visiting Koricancha Temple, which was a centre of worship for the sun during the Inca empire. Then discover the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an excellent example of Inca military architecture; Kenko, a ceremonial place where the sun, moon and stars were worshiped; and Puca Pucara, which once functioned as a resting place for Inca troops.
Transfer from Cusco hotel to Cusco airport before flying from Cuzco via Lima to Quito. Upon arrival, join Silversea for a luxurious two-night pre-cruise stay in Quito at JW Marriott.
Arrive in San Cristobal, one of Galapagos' oldest islands, for a fascinating day among dormant volcanoes and rare wildlife. The Galapagos Islands' capital city Puerto Baquerizo Moreno lies on San Cristobal's south-western tip. Kicker Rock is made up of the remains of a former tuff cone, located less than 5km to the west of San Cristobal. Here you can hike along the coast for some sea lion spotting or take a snorkel dive to find manta rays and hammerhead sharks.
The next stop is the majestic moonscape of Isla Bartolomé at Sullivan Bay. Take a boardwalk of 388 steps up the volcano, passing lava lizzards, Galapagos hawks and blue-footed boobies en route. Reaching the summit, admire the stunning views over to the Pinnacle Rock, and the volcanic cones. Then head over to Buccanner Cove in Santiago, formerly a hiding place for the illicit treasures of visiting pirates.
Enjoy a sea life extravaganza in Punta Vicente Roca, one of Isabela Island's best marine sites. Spot Pacific green turtles, sharks, whales, manta rays, dolphins, and even marine iguanas as you wander along the coast. The itinerary over in Punta Espionza follows in the same vein, with more opportunities to spot marine iguanas, along with Galapagos sea lions, Sally lightfoot crabs and flightless cormorants.
Bordered by a jagged coastline, Tagus Cove has been a trusty shelter for ships and yachts throughout history. There are plenty of native birds to discover on your rocky hike across the island, such as Galapagos penguins, flightless cormorants, yellow warblers and large-billed flycatchers. Meanwhile Elizabeth Bay is abloom with beautiful mangroves in red, white, and black.
Centuries ago, visitors would drop their mail for the Galapagos Islands at Post Office Bay, hoping another adventurer would carry it on for them. This old mail barrel has been replaced with a new, tourist-friendly barrel, where you can deposit your postcards for home. Champion Islet is the perfect place for swimming along the sweeping coastline or some deep-dive snorkelling, and Punta Coromat is bursting with lagoons just beyond its beaches, where you can catch sight of flamingos.
In Santa Cruz, admire the spread of flora and fauna along the shoreline, and keep an eye out for giant tortoises. After a leisurely stroll, you can visit the prestigious Charles Darwin Research Station in Puerto Ayora, along with the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center. End your day with a wander around the town's art galleries, showcasing the work of local artists, and a warming drink at a charming corner cafe.
Another bumpy landscape of volcanic rock greets your feet as you disembark at Cerro Dragon. Trek over to the water lagoons, a resting spot for shorebirds, and watch flamingoes preening and bathing their chicks. Then venture to Isla Guy Fawkes to admire its magnificent underwater cliffs, home to sponges, corals, sea stars and urchins. It's an excellent place for diving. Finally, head over to the beautiful beach of Bahía Bowditch and take a refreshing swim in the gentle turquoise waters.
Return to San Cristóbal and disembark for your flight to Guayaquil. Enjoy the facilities of a hotel room for the day before your overnight flight from Guayaquil back to the UK.
