Hotel information
Beginning with the building itself, this beautiful mansion is bedecked with all of the old-world grandeur that you would want and expect from its gravel-lined entry and stately façade.
Here, think golden chandeliers, heavy embroidered drapes, individually decorated guestrooms and thick velvet sofas at every turn, though that’s just the start.
The estate actually covers a huge 550 acres, meaning some of the private accommodation, cottages and lodges are set away from the main mansion and, on top of those two 18-hole golf courses onsite, there are also acres of wonderful flowerbeds, gardens and lawns to enjoy.
Another real highlight of booking a golfing holiday at Archerfield House is taking a trip to their Fletcher’s Cottage Spa, where you’ll be treated to a soothing lavender-infused sauna, steam rooms, bath and mud huts, a log cabin-like relaxation area and holistic therapies based around various organic essential oils. It’s a dream and makes a stay here even more enjoyable come rain or shine. What’s more, if the weather is keeping you off the course, the best bits of Edinburgh are only 40 minutes away and you’re also right on the coast; Archerfield House can arrange everything from private restaurant bookings to luxury car hire, so you’ll never be short of things to do on your trip to Scotland.
Finally, when it comes to cuisines at Archerfield House itself, you can either relax in The Clubhouse with fellow guests, tucking into all kinds of seasonal delights (much of which is sourced locally), or ask for a personal chef and waiting staff to rustle something up in a more secluded setting, perhaps in your lodge or as a gourmet picnic to go; delightful.
Room Options
Archerfield House offers a real range of accommodation options, from a guestroom in the main mansion to a private traditional cottage, or slightly more modern villas and suites. The décor in each suits the space, so while mansion and cottage rooms reflect a more regal or rural aesthetic respectively, other purpose-built options are much more contemporary with their bright white walls and spotlights, rather than chandeliers or low-lit lamps, for example. It all fits together perfectly, and though you also get much more independence in the larger options with extra rooms, lounge areas, kitchens and terraces, you won’t be short of mod-cons or amenities no matter which you choose here.
The House
Available to rent in its entirety, The House is a truly unique place to stay if travelling to Scotland as a family or group with its 15 double en suite guestrooms, dining room with chefs and meals served in-house, snooker room and lounge areas all decorated in befitting 17th and 18th century style.Pavilion Suites
Separated from the main mansion, Pavilion Suites are a nicely private option if visiting Archerfield House as a couple. Inside they are certainly more modern than The House or The Cottage, and also benefit from golf course views, a kitchenette (with complimentary larder of snacks) and open-plan or separate lounge spaces, in addition to the bedroom and en suite. The Lodges
The Lodges at Archerfield House are wonderful for families. Offering three or four bedrooms each, these spacious standalone abodes come with a huge open plan living room and kitchen, all the mod-cons, a fireplace surrounded by cosy armchairs, private balconies and gardens too.Marine Villa
For one of the ultimate exclusive escapes in Scotland, book the Marine Villa at Archerfield House for 28 acres of private land, sea views, your own historical cottage and space to sleep 10 guests comfortably; magic. The Boathouse
Another truly special sea view option is the hotel’s private split-level Boathouse of four en suite bathrooms (all individually adorned), a fireplace in the vaulted living room, fully-equipped kitchen and ocean facing terrace too.The Cottage
The Cottage is one of the more intimate standalone options, studded away in its own gardens on the edge of the coast, and can sleep up to four (in two en suite bedrooms). Here the main draw is the seclusion and views, though the property itself is also a charming retreat with its kitchenette and larder, fireplace in the living room and instant beach access to enjoy.Facilities/Amenities
Fletcher’s Cottage Spa at Archerfield House is one of the property’s main draws; surrounded by lavender bushes (to fuel the lavender-infused sauna), plus steam rooms, private bath and mud huts, a relaxation cabin complete with log fire and all kinds of holistic treatments available too. The hotel then offers a full range of five-star concierge services from private restaurant bookings to luxury car pick-up, not to mention two 18-hole golf courses, a driving range, performance centre and top-end golfing shop onsite.
Restaurants & Bars
The Clubhouse
The Clubhouse offers everything you need after a day of golf or afternoon indulging in the spa, with its heavenly menu mix of healthy and decadent dishes alike. Think seasonal British classics, prime Scottish steaks, fresh seafood and smoked salmon plus a few more internationally inspired treats such as warming tagines, goat’s cheese and watermelon salad or smoked tofu noodles.
