Hotel information
When it comes to wintry holidays, there are few destinations as iconic as Sweden’s Icehotel, which ironically offers the warmest of welcomes. Icehotel Winter is open from December to April – before it melts away – and is a real bucket list experience, while the permanent Icehotel and its warm rooms are available year-round.
Within Icehotel Winter is a veritable treasure trove of sculptures, statues and furniture all carved from ice. A group of artists from all around the world come together each year to turn ideas and sketches into the most intricate, mind-boggling ice sculptures. The hotel is different each year, meaning you can return again and again and have a different – yet equally exhilarating – experience every time. Ice Rooms are kept between -5 and -8°C, and feature thermal bedding reindeer hides and thick curtains for a cosy night’s sleep.
Within the permanent Icehotel you’ll find the cool Ice Bar, an ice gallery and plenty of beautiful warm rooms. Natural materials have been used in the design, and en suite bathrooms feature a heated stone floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows mean you can spend as long as you like gazing out over the remote village of Jukkasjärvi and the rugged icy surroundings of this corner of Sweden.
