Full accommodation information

This 12th-century castle could not be more quintessentially Tuscan. From its thick walls, tall tower and terracotta-topped roofs, olive groves, pine trees and grape vines all around a private 750-acre estate, truly refined gastronomy of Michelin-star standard and elevated views over the valley that come for free; COMO Castello del Nero stands supreme and is COMO's first property in Europe.

With Siena and Florence less than 30 minutes away, guests here will find plenty of opportunities to explore this glorious part of the world.

A 12th century Castello is at the heart of the property, and houses 50 stunning rooms and suites, each boasting sleek interiors designed by celebrated designer Paola Navone; the contemporary COMO signature style beautifully complements the stately building’s authentic historic architecture.

Each of the Paola Navone-designed guestrooms and suites are then individually adorned and decorated to ensure that, not only the most is made of each space, but all feel intimate and personal. Cool, clean and contemporary detailing combines beautifully with the spacious period rooms. Many come with beautifully ornate frescoes or beamed ceilings, antique fourposter beds or vintage rolltop tubs in mosaic-tiled bathrooms.

No stay at this castle hotel would be complete without a visit to the onsite COMO Shambhala Retreat, where guests will discover endless pampering and relaxation. The spa’s facilities include a sauna, aromatic steam room, a 25m-long heated outdoor pool (seasonal), gym area and a heated vitality pool. After indulging in a facial, massage or other therapy, take yourself to the relaxation area for simply unforgettable views over Tuscany’s rolling hillsides and greenery.

The estate’s grounds are as spectacular as the polished interiors, with its own kitchen garden, swimming pool, vineyard, olive grove and beehives. Many of the ingredients grown in the kitchen garden are showcased on the menu at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant La Torre, which is overseen by Executive Chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro. Guests can also savour Mediterranean flavours at La Taverna, in the castle’s original kitchen, or al fresco at Pavilion. For something really special, ask our Travel Specialists about arranging a wine and olive oil tasting session in the 12th century wine cellar. Tennis courts, a gym, cookery classes, several kilometres of scenic walks around the grounds and all the highlights of Tuscany on your doorstep are just a few more of the many reasons to book a guestroom or suite at COMO Castello del Nero.

The 49 guestrooms and 11 suites at COMO Castello del Nero are all individually designed and decorated, with unique features throughout including original 18th-century frescoes, beamed ceilings and wonderful old fireplaces in many. The larger suites sport separate lounge areas in what was once a clutch of library rooms, while some also come with either multiple bedrooms or are split over two floors, which offers a nice sense of independence or simply more space if travelling to Tuscany with children. Every COMO Castello del Nero guestroom then enjoys a range of Chianti countryside or garden and swimming pool views, Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, king or queen-size beds, a separate bathtub and rain shower.

La Torre

La Torre

La Torre is, in short, a Michelin-star Italian restaurant in the heart of the country’s most famous food region, set in a stunning original room and terrace to boot; a winning combination. Only the finest olive oils, vegetables grown onsite, locally sourced cuts and fresh seafood go into each delectable plate here, from scallops with caviar and ham powder to plum and pigeon ragout, wild boar or blue lobster, the flavour fusions are both cutting-edge and respectful of Italian tradition all at the same time. A breakfast of fresh pastries, cured meats, cheeses and artisan breads plus plenty of a la carte items is also served in La Torre, and with Castello del Nero’s Michelin-standard chef also holding regularly cookery classes here, be sure not to miss out on at least one during your stay!
