Prestigious family-run hotel group Rocco Forte is opening its doors to the Villa Igiea, once a private villa that was known as the most famous retreat in Sicily.
The palazzo was designed by the renowned architect Ernesto Basile at the start of the last century, and now the hospitality, warmth and glamour that made it a haven for royalty, artists, Hollywood stars and the political elite is ready to welcome home a whole new generation of visitors.
The original features from 1900 have been retained, allowing guests to feel as though they’re stepping back in time: into the Belle Époque, and into a majestic castle that overlooks the sea. Framed by the Gulf of Palermo and the Tyrrhenian Sea and set amongst lush Mediterranean gardens, this private oasis is truly a haven for those looking for serenity and escapism.
