Hotel information
Porto Cervo is a picturesque Sardinian coastal village, popular since the 1950s among wealthy holidaymakers, with its marina of luxury yachts and hotels.
It’s here you’ll discover the Romazzino, now under the umbrella of the high-end Belmond Hotel collection, who have created a retreat ideal for families, groups and those who love to holiday with a touch of retro glamour.
On a private sandy beach in Costa Smeralda amid fragrant gardens, the white-washed curved buildings of this unique hotel wend their way across the landscape. This dreamy flow of architecture was designed by Michele Busiri Vici, who was known for his work in Costa Smeralda, with the hotel founded by Aga Khan IV in 1965.
This storied past has been given a 2020s update thanks to new ownership from Belmond, a collection renowned for its sympathetic renewing of historic hotels. The sixties style, epic sea views and laidback Italian vibe remain. But there’s now WiFi and air con across all accommodations, alongside an outdoor fitness centre with the latest Technogym equipment and open-air cabanas.
The vibe is distinctly '1960s Italian', harking back to what made the hotel so revered from its birth. So, expect sprawling grounds lined with aromatic rosemary bushes; freshwater and seawater-filled swimming pools; a retro cocktail bar with a cigar room and live pianist; and experiences that tempt you away for day trips, like a boat trip to La Maddalena Archipelago National Park.
And speaking of the area around the hotel, Porto Cervo is popular for its luxury spas, fine dining restaurants and exclusive nightclub spots, with its Piazzetta - a square surrounded by shopping alleys lined with designers such as Cartier, Gucci, Versace and Prada – the place to see and be seen.
Back at the hotel there is plenty for younger visitors too, with a fully supervised programme of indoor and outdoor activities, and thoughtful details to make family travel seamless, like in-room mini bathrobes, slippers and bottle warmers, and children’s menus and highchairs in the restaurant.
Room Options
There are a total of 100 accommodations to pick from at Romazzino, comprising 77 rooms, 17 suites and six private villas. Restaurants & Bars
The experience at Romazzino is one to give you a real sense of place, transporting you to the chilled times of Sardinia in the sixties. This extends to the food, where views of the bay are showcased as you sit amidst the juniper trees being served fish caught in the Med with a seasonal salad and a retro cocktail. Whether it’s an al fresco lunch by the pool or an intimate dinner at the signature restaurant, opting for half or full-board is a great way to make the most of this Belmond hotel’s Italian menus.
Restaurant La Terrasse
Enjoy views of the bay at the hotel’s signature restaurant in the main building. Modern Sardinian and Italian dishes are served, with ingredients sourced locally on daily menus focussing on the island’s traditions and fresh, seasonal produce.

A distinctly sixties vibe makes this bar on the sand a favourite with guests. Sit in a cabana with a cappuccino in the morning, sip aperitifs on the sand, and lounge with a lemonade and your feet on the beach to the sound of the waves lapping the shore.
Il Ginepro Bar
Step back in time to the glamour of a cocktail bar in the mid-20th-century, where mixologists create retro cocktails, there is a cigar lounge for a cognac and Toscano, and live piano music accompanies the experience.
Pool Bar
Just steps from the beach, this relaxing spot beside the pools and surrounded by gardens is perfect for a fresh juice sitting by the saltwater pool, or for an afternoon ice cream with the kids next to the freshwater swimming pool.
Activities & Entertainment
Beach & Pools
Just steps from the sea and woven into the landscape of rosemary, hibiscus and juniper trees are the hotel’s two swimming pools; one seawater, one freshwater. The Romazzino’s private, white sand beach leads into the warm, clear waters of Costa Smeralda and is found at the end of a walk through the fragrant gardens. Equipped with sunshades and loungers, this calm stretch of coast is peaceful for couples and families alike.
Watersports are available with an expert guide, including kayaking, wakeboarding and waterskiing.
Spa & Fitness

An outdoor fitness area has the latest Technogym equipment for working out with a view of the sea, and there is a new yoga and Pilates room.
Alternatively, channel the sixties fitness vibe with a match on the newly renovated tennis court.

A fully supervised programme of activities at the Toy Club is offered by multilingual staff for children aged three to 12, and children’s menus and highchairs are provided in the restaurants. A babysitter is available to book on request.
