Full accommodation information

Set within 1,730 acres of pristine Arctic wilderness – teeming with unique wildlife – Octola’s exact location is intentionally discreet. Here, you’ll be immersed in silence and stillness, far from any light pollution, with uninterrupted views of the northern lights illuminating the sky for over 200 nights a year.

Every stay is entirely bespoke, with a private chef, butler and expert wilderness guides on hand to craft your perfect Arctic escape. You might spend your days snowshoeing through untouched forests, meeting reindeer herders to learn about Sámi traditions, or discovering the pure tranquillity of a Nordic wellness ritual. With more than 70 experiences available year-round, every moment is tailored entirely to you.

The atmosphere at Octola is serene and deeply restorative – a place to reconnect with nature and yourself. The lodge’s warm, timber interiors balance modern Nordic design with homely comfort, creating an inviting refuge from the Arctic elements. Beyond the main lodge, there's also the option to stay in Octola's two-bedroom villa, complete with its own private sauna

Whether you’re travelling as a couple seeking seclusion or as a family in search of adventure, Octola offers a rare sense of freedom and exclusivity. It’s a place where you can pause, breathe, and simply be, surrounded by nature at its most awe-inspiring.

Lodge Rooms

Lodge Rooms

Set at the heart of the main lodge, all rooms offer king-size beds and separate sitting areas. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Arctic wilderness, with many rooms opening onto private terraces. With direct access to the lodge’s communal spaces, you can enjoy both privacy and the warm, inviting atmosphere of the central lodge, surrounded by pristine nature.
Villa

Villa

The villa offers unrivalled privacy across its expansive living space, featuring two bedrooms with king-size beds, separate living and dining areas, and a fully equipped kitchen. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a generous terrace provide panoramic views of the pristine wilderness, perfect for witnessing the Northern Lights. Exclusive services, including a private chef, butler, and dedicated guides, ensure a highly personalised Arctic retreat.

Spa

At Octola, the wellness experience takes inspiration from Nordic traditions. Begin with a deep-tissue massage or firming facial, tailored to your needs, before retreating to the spa’s log-lined Finnish sauna. Carved in the traditional style and playfully named after the Prince of Monaco, the sauna combines heritage with comfort, complete with a minibar stocked with local Karhu beer.

For quieter moments, the spa’s separate relaxation room offers a tranquil sanctuary, where you can practise yoga or Pilates, doze by the fireside, or simply embrace the stillness of your Arctic surroundings.

Winter Adventures

Octola comes alive in winter, offering both exhilarating and slower-paced Arctic experiences. Feel the rush of snowshoeing, skiing, tobogganing, husky sledding, ice skating, or snowmobiling. For a gentler pace, enjoy campfire folk songs, reindeer spotting, art workshops, or explore the spa’s sauna-hopping traditions. Itineraries are completely bespoke, catering to families and adults accordingly: children can take part in Octola’s elf school, while grown-ups can engage with lectures and workshops led by space scientists, musicians, and local artisans. A 20-minute drive also brings you to Rovaniemi’s Santa Claus Village and its official post office.

Summer Adventures

In summer, the estate transforms under the midnight sun, offering an array of unique activities. Cast a line in one of Europe’s best salmon-fishing rivers, hike across lush landscapes, or explore the surrounding wilderness. For culture, visit the Arktikum science museum with its Nordic architecture and Arctic Garden, or Korundi House of Culture, home to the Chamber Orchestra of Lapland and Rovaniemi Art Museum.

Dining

At Octola, dining is entirely bespoke. Menus are crafted around your preferences and dietary needs, with expert chefs specialising in Scandinavian-French fusion cuisine. Meals can be served anywhere on the estate, from intimate indoor settings to the heart of the wilderness. Signature reindeer dishes are a must-try.

Karhu Bar

Named after the statue of a wood-chopping bear, Karhu Bar blends forest-inspired architecture with cosy comfort. Hand-carved wooden walls, a crackling log fire, and fur-lined seating create an inviting retreat. Savour classic comfort dishes alongside expertly crafted cocktails, or unwind with Finnish wines while soaking in the Arctic atmosphere.
