Hotel information
Experience authentic Austria with a stay at this historic, opulent Luxury Collection Hotel set in the heart of Vienna.
With the largest suite collection in the city (59 in total, including two iconic butler-served Royal Suites) this elegant hotel is all silk walls, crystal chandeliers and marble bathrooms. Next door to the great golden halls of the Musikverein, home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Hotel Imperial is one of the most distinguished of Vienna’s luxury hotels.
Built as a town residence for royalty in 1863 and converted into a hotel for the 1873 Vienna World's Fair, it is something of an institution. Directly on the city’s main Ringboulevard, it’s surrounded by luxury shops and museums, including the largest museum for modern art in Central Europe.
The 138 bedrooms are lavish, with sumptuous furnishings, original paintings, antiques and valuable art treasures, all served by a dedicated team available 24/7. Within the hotel are the legendary Café Imperial Wien and fine-dining Restaurant OPUS, both exceptional backdrops for taking your meals at the hotel. Be sure to make time for the famous afternoon tea, and visit the Imperial Torte Boutique to take home a classic sweet souvenir from your visit to Vienna.
Experiences not to miss nearby include visits to some of the 100 museums and palaces in and around the Austrian capital; a trip to see a performance at the legendary Spanish Riding School; a private State Opera tour; wandering the Christmas and New Year’s markets in November and December; and tickets to a ball in January and February (the hotel can arrange waltz lessons before you go!).

Restaurants & Bars
In-keeping with the wider hotel, the dining at Hotel Imperial is elegant and refined. From exquisite afternoon teas to gourmet tasting menus, the hotel celebrates the best of Austrian traditions – pared of course with locally-grown wines. As the birthplace of the very first Imperial Torte, this sweet Viennese treat is kept alive at the hotel, where it can be enjoyed at the Cafe Imperial, or taken home to gift. Created to mark the opening of the Hotel Imperial and in honour of Emperor Franz Josef I, the secret recipe of the square cake has been delighting those who taste it for more than 150 years.
Café Imperial Wien
The coffee house tradition is part of life in Vienna, seen as a place of comfort and conviviality outside of your own home. With that in mind the Cafe Imperial Wien is filled with Austrian atmosphere all day long, from the lavish breakfast buffet that starts the day, to afternoon tea served with Viennese specialties and speciality coffees alongside homemade Imperial Torte, then an evening meal of Viennese schnitzel or ox goulash; all served in an elegant, regal space.
Restaurant OPUS
One of Vienna’s best gourmet restaurants, OPUS is an award-winning dining destination where modern menus inspired by Austrian cuisine are served in a traditional setting and complemented by a selection of fine wines. Small, light dishes look like works of art and are served tasting menu-style and paired with wine. A focus on sustainability means many of the ingredients are sourced locally.
Imperial Bar
Take a seat in the Imperial Bar under 7,746 crystals that make up the stunning ceiling chandelier. A drink at this iconic bar is a ‘must-do’ whether you’re staying at the hotel or not. Regularly hosting jazz nights, it has an atmosphere that celebrates its storied past, with comfort and cosiness alongside refined, modern luxuries. From the vintage champagne and KISS cocktail dusted with 23 carat gold, to the Austrian caviar and petits fours; this is a place to indulge.
Activities & Entertainment
Discover Vienna
Superbly placed for exploring this stunning city, many of Vienna’s best attractions are within walking distance, including: the Musikverein concert hall, the Vienna State Opera, St Stephen’s Cathedral Belvedere Palace, the Fine Arts and Natural History Museums and the Museumsquartier. There are plenty of boutiques close to the Hotel Imperial, with the Goldenes Quartier luxury shopping area just 1.5km away.
Outside of the city there are vineyards to visit on a wine tasting tour. Or ask the hotel concierge about transfers to the stunning Viennese Woods for a contrasting experience to that in the capital.
