Hotel information
The InterContinental in Wellington provides polished five-star service and facilities right in the middle of downtown, just a stone’s throw from the harbourfront and surrounding museums.
As such, you can simply step out of this shimmering skyscraper and find several of Wellington’s top highlights on your doorstep, though should you need a luxury transfer around the city – InterContinental’s concierge team will happily arrange this for you.
To make your experience even better, the InterContinental Wellington possesses excellent leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, hot tub, and spa, so you can work up a sweat or treat yourself to a soothing massage. Meanwhile, two gourmet haunts and a bar provide everything else you need; the Chameleon Restaurant and Two Grey for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or the Lobby Lounge for afternoon tea, drinks and finger food.
You might also want to upgrade to a Club Level room and receive complimentary refreshments in an exclusive lounge, accompanied by sweeping views of the bay. In fact, some of the InterContinental’s guestrooms and suites overlook the harbour too, providing a pretty backdrop for your sojourn in Wellington.
Room Options
The look is classical but modest and attractive in the InterContinental guestrooms, where a neutral palette meets amenities such as king-size beds wrapped in white linens, sleek flat-screen TVs and minibars. It’s worth upgrading to a room with views of the harbour, or one with access to the exclusive Club InterContinental Lounge where you can help yourself to breakfast, drinks and snacks in comfort; you also get complimentary valet parking and shoeshine service if booked in to this category.

Set on higher floors of the hotel than the Standard, this room type comes with a daybed by the window, espresso machine, a walk-in shower and one king-size or two double beds. Some offer views of the harbour and others come with a jetted tub, while the Deluxe Executive boasts a slightly larger floorplan too. You also have the option to upgrade to a Club InterContinental Room.One-bedroom Suite

At the resort’s Emerge Health Club, you can work out or relax as much as you deem fit, what with the heated indoor pool, gym, hot tub and sauna at your fingertips. Then there’s the Spa InterContinental, which has won awards for its indulgent treatments that are offered within a decidedly Moroccan-style oasis. Also at the hotel you’ll find the Club InterContinental, with a private lounge of complimentary snacks and drinks against the backdrop of Wellington’s popular harbour.
Restaurants & Bars
Chameleon Restaurant
Creative takes on global cuisine stars on the seasonal menus at Chameleon, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant that’s headed up by Chef Paul Limacher. Expect a tantalising range of seafood and meat – such as Mt Cook alpine salmon with celeriac remoulade, or Silver Fern Farms aged beef tenderloin with pickled plum and black garlic butter – as well as vegetarian options too, best savoured as a three-course dinner paired with New Zealand wine. Then for breakfast, you can opt for the continental buffet, full cooked buffet or something from the a la carte menu.

Two Grey
This modern bar and brasserie is located just around the corner from the InterContinental towards Featherston Street, offering an intimate space for meals and drinks throughout the day. Slate grey sofas with yellow cushions, black brick walls and modish lanterns hanging from the ceiling set the scene here, while the vast drinks menu promises to hit the spot.

The Lobby Lounge
Be sure to set aside an afternoon for high tea at the InterContinental’s Lobby Lounge, where you’ll be served a delightful selection of beautifully crafted bites to accompany fine leaf tea or aromatic coffee. You can also stop by for light or casual meals – such as oysters, soba noodles or even fish and chips – or try out some of the tempting cocktails, from much-loved classics to original InterContinental inventions!
Activities & Entertainment
The InterContinental’s central location makes exploring the city on foot nice and easy. 15 minutes away you’ll find the must-visit Te Papa Museum, a fantastic place to learn about New Zealand’s art, culture, geology and more. Even closer to the hotel are the Wellington Museum and New Zealand Portrait Gallery, plus of course the harbourfront which lends itself well to laidback strolls while looking out over the water. Explore further afield and hop on a Wellington cable car towards the Botanic Garden; enjoy the view from Mount Victoria; or take a tour of the parliament buildings instead.
