Hotel information
For a little independence during your time in the Martinborough wine region – though with plenty of boutique hotel comforts on-hand too – the self-contained and fully equipped cottages at picturesque Peppers Parehua are hard to beat.
This working vineyard has it all, beginning with its sprawling private grounds which include a lake and jetty, outdoor swimming pool and patio, tennis courts, a croquet lawn edged by blossom trees and, of course, row upon row of wine-producing grape vines that demand at least one tasting tour while here.
In fact, Peppers Parehua is a foodie’s paradise, as is the wider Martinborough area with its top-class restaurants, multi-course menus and dozens of boutique vineyards to visit either by (complimentary) bicycle, horse-back or on foot. The onsite eatery here, The Pavilion, is a treasure trove of refined cuisine, seasonal produce and refreshingly relaxed service throughout; the team will happily deliver a gourmet hamper to your cottage if looking to make use of the self-catering facilities or heading out on a private picnic for the day.
Those Peppers Parehua cottages come in a range of sizes, suitable for couples through to families and small groups as multi-bedroom options are available. All are individually designed in terms of their contemporary décor, yet boast the same fantastic features no matter which you choose, such as a private patio; fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette; spa bathtub (or outdoor Jacuzzi in some); a fireplace and lounge; underfloor heating; and a king-size bed. Overall, it’s a winning combination here at Peppers Parehua of spacious accommodation, a host of onsite facilities, fine-dining food and a great location to explore the best of Martinborough.
Room Options
There are 28 self-contained cottages at Peppers Parehua, all offering the same fantastic in-room facilities and, unless opting for one of the multi-bedroom villas, only really differing in their available views. Two of the cottages do also boast an outdoor hot tub, though every room includes a private patio; fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette; spa bathtub; fireplace and lounge; underfloor heating; and a king-size bed.
Winemakers and Garden Cottage
Beautifully designed and enjoying a nice open-plan living/kitchenette area that’s separated from the bedroom by a partition wall, these two cottage categories are ideal for couples visiting Peppers Parehua. Each enjoys a private patio and garden views, in addition to all the other Peppers in-room extras.Lakeside Cottage
Similar to the Winemakers category in size and layout, Lakeside Cottages differ only in their location and views, overlooking the lake and countryside beyond.Secluded Cottage
Secluded by name and nature, this intimate hideaway is purpose-built for a romantic break at Peppers Parehua, from the red throws and cushion covers to an outdoor Jacuzzi, full kitchen and fireplace; bliss.Woodland Villa
The Woodland Villa is nicely suited to families or anyone wanting to simply spread out a little, offering two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a Jacuzzi, huge lounge area and fully equipped kitchen too.Facilities/Amenities
Peppers Parehua really is a destination in itself, as between those self-contained cottages, the communal areas, vineyard and grounds, this Martinborough country estate has just about everything. In addition to the gardens and private lake (with jetty), there’s also a tennis court onsite, outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace, croquet lawn and Pétanque pitch plus complimentary bikes for hire.
Restaurants & Bars
The Pavilion Restaurant and Bar
The Martinborough wine region is a haven for gastronomes, and The Pavilion Restaurant and Bar at Peppers Parehua proudly continues that passion for fine-dining cuisine, seasonal produce, fresh seafood and perfectly paired wines all the way. You can savour it all from either within the restaurant itself – which is wonderfully relaxed (the fireplace adds an extra touch on chilly evenings) – or out on the terrace overlooking Peppers’ own grapevines. Then, if heading out on a day trip, or you fancy a private picnic or delicious meal in the comfort of your cottage, order a gourmet hamper and it will be delivered straight to your door.
