Full accommodation information

The safari experience so synonymous with Africa holidays has landed in Australia thanks to El Questro Homestead, a boutique hotel supplying luxurious touches and unforgettable nature experiences in equal measure.

Make the journey to Western Australia’s stunning northern region, The Kimberley, and be rewarded with some of the country’s most astonishing landscapes. The Homestead at El Questro is found right in the heart of The Kimberley’s easterly area, where bush, tropical oases, waterfalls, hot springs, gorges and mountains reign supreme. The hotel itself is set on a curve of the Chamberlain River, rising from the cliffs to promise far-reaching views of this ever-enchanting scenery throughout your stay. Guides will then take you out into this natural wonderland to catch sight of local wildlife (resplendent birds and creeping crocs among them), hike to secret locations and fly high over it all on a helicopter or light aircraft. With 700,000 acres to enjoy and expeditions on horseback, foot, by 4x4, boat or air, you could never tire of this extraordinary place.

During the time spent in the Homestead at El Questro between tours, you can also look forward to plenty of pampering and treats too. Staff offer cool towels and iced drinks to refresh you after a day out on excursion and retreating to your luxury room or suite brings the sight of plush beds, deep-soak tubs (some out on a private deck) and timeless views across the Chamberlain River and plains beyond. Join other guests for communal meals and pre-dinner drinks each evening, all included in your stay awestt El Questro, or request a private meal above the river for more romantic moments in this extraordinary place.

Each of the nine rooms and suites at El Questro Homestead has its own appeal, with variations in view, layout and amenities. Some are quietly tucked away in the garden, while others hover right above the Chamberlain Gorge for seriously good vistas of this majestic landscape. All options come with Bose sound systems, rain showers, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, complimentary minibars and AESOP toiletries; though note that Wi-Fi is only available in communal spaces of the hotel.

Homestead Room

Homestead Room

A lovely little hideaway with wide windows framing the gardens outside, and a furnished patio for hours spent admiring it all al fresco. The contemporary bathroom features a rain shower and AESOP toiletries, while the décor is a soft palette of lemon yellow and dove grey, complemented with a robust wooden armoire to lend a homely touch.
Gorge View Room

Gorge View Room

A step up in luxury levels, the Gorge View Room is larger in size and flaunts a freestanding tub right next to its sliding floor-to-ceiling window, so you can look down over the Chamberlain Gorge as you soak; see if you can spot any Freshwater Crocs while you do so! There’s also an outdoor deck with comfy chairs, and warm furnishings inside to top it all off.
Cliffside Retreat

Cliffside Retreat

Revel in a feeling of seclusion at one of the three standalone Cliffside Retreats, elevated high above the Chamberlain River for breathtaking views all around. Soak up this sight from your outdoor bathtub or shower, set on an outdoor deck that’s positioned specifically to catch the best sunset vistas. Huge glass doors, wood-clad interiors and a window seat complete the picture here.
The Chamberlain Suite

The Chamberlain Suite

This suite is the star of the show at El Questro Homestead, suspended above Chamberlain Gorge and with wraparound windows to ensure the most captivating of views. There’s a veranda all around the suite too which encourages memorable moments spent al fresco, plus a deep-soak tub, double vanities and rain shower in the en suite.

On top of Wi-Fi in communal areas, a superb concierge service and inviting restaurant/lounge area, El Questro Homestead has pretty gardens with a small swimming pool to help you cool off from the heat of the day. There’s also a shop at El Questro Station just in case you need to stock up on any essentials, such as sun cream.

Homestead Restaurant

From morning to night, you can enjoy delicious dishes at the Homestead restaurant, all of which are included in your stay; so too are alcoholic drinks. Relish fine Western Australian wine alongside contemporary cuisine that makes the most of regional ingredients, all transformed into seriously delectable plates each day. Start by taking breakfast outside on the terrace and return for lunch at the communal table. Aperitifs and canapes are also served early evening, then, for your three-course dinner, choose to sit either at the communal table with your fellow guests or request a private destination dining experience with views of the gorge by candlelight.
