Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Pelorus Private Island is passionate about preserving the natural beauty of Queensland. Its Reef Keepers Fund was set up to support projects and organisations committed to protecting the Great Barrier Reef. As such, your stay will see $100 donated towards environmental projects aimed at protecting and preserving the world’s largest coral reef ecosystem. On top of this, the island is home to a virgin ecosystem of native birds, reptiles, small mammals and sea life. In order to protect them, Pelorus Island has signed up to become a member of the Hinchinbrook Shire Council, ensuring the natural habitat is preserved by both state and federal environmental laws.
