Hotel information
With its string of irresistible fine-dining restaurants, a heavenly holistic spa, watersports including underwater Seabob adventures, scuba, snorkelling and jet ski, plus several swimming pools that look out towards the ocean, you can see why.
The hotel itself is split into three distinct – though equally enticing – accommodation options: the Lagoon, Pool and Beach Wings which will see you either overlooking the surrounding countryside and gardens, getting instant access to a large lake-style pool or open up directly onto the beach. Importantly, the guestrooms, suites and villas of all three categories are each bedecked in the same uber-trendy and contemporary beach-chic stylings, minimalist décor and comfy furnishings, just as you’ll find throughout the rest of the resort too.
While staying at InterContinental Hayman Island Resort you are situated at the northern tip of the Whitsundays, meaning the pristine Great Barrier Reef waters are all around you – easily explored with a private yacht charter or island-hopping boat trip, seaplane or helicopter tour, scuba diving, snorkelling or some stand-up paddleboarding. All of these are available from the hotel as well as its modern gym and soothing spa, sports courts, golf simulator and kids’ club full of games and activities to keep little ones entertained.
And then there’s the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort’s restaurant options, a mouth-watering gastronomic journey from Asia to Italy with a good dose of Australian fine-dining suave, pairing-wine menus, cocktail bars and deliciously seasonal seafood also part of the foodie package here.
Room Options
InterContinental Hayman Island Resort is made up of 166 guestrooms, suites and villas split between three sections of the hotel which overlook a nearby lagoon and the hotel gardens, one of the main pools or straight out towards the ocean. Between the three options there are then a range of one, two or three-bedroom suites to choose from (great for families), plus a standalone three-bedroom house which is simply stunning. All are wonderfully well-equipped and beautifully styled in modern, summery tones and occasional art deco touches, with no expense spared on quality throughout. Some come with an immaculate private pool and daybed, a kitchenette and lounge area, though every room category enjoys a king-size bed and plush linens, separate bathtub and shower plus all the mod-cons.
King Classic Retreat Courtyard Room
This flawless 410sq ft guestroom boasts a private courtyard with lagoon and garden views, comfortable seating area and large bathroom in addition to all other InterContinental Hayman in-room extras.One-bedroom Hayman Suite
At nearly 1,000sq ft, the One-bedroom Hayman Suite offers a considerably increased floorplan compared to its guestroom equivalent. That extra space includes a double balcony with beach views, separate lounge area that also overlooks the ocean and twin-vanity bathroom too; a fine choice.Two-bedroom Hayman Suite
Similar in style and location to the one-bedroom option, these Two-bedroom Hayman Suites make use of their larger 1,720sq ft floorplan to offer a separate dining and lounge area, as well as that extra bedroom and two bathrooms, private balcony and Hayman Beach views; great for families.Three-bedroom Hayman Suite
The 2,045sq ft seafront Three-bedroom Hayman Suite is another superb option if travelling with kids or as a group, with a wraparound balcony and kitchenette also featuring in addition to its extra bedrooms, bathrooms and balcony.One-bedroom Pool Ocean View Suite
800sq ft in size and looking out over the main pool and sea beyond, the One-bedroom Pool Ocean View Suite provides the same in-room comforts and outdoor space as the other one-bedroom suite options, though does benefit from an elevated position in the building and improved vistas as a result.Two-bedroom Pool Ocean View Suite
Another excellent option if travelling to Hayman Island with children, the Two-bedroom Pool Ocean View Suite enjoys 1,200sq ft to accommodate an additional bedroom and bathroom too.Beachfront Pool Villa
The 1,300sq ft Beachfront Pool Villas are something special indeed, not least because of their unique architectural design with private pools connecting to the main bedroom and lounge via a joint sundeck, though walls of glass all around also give you instant access to the beach and sea, just outside your door.Three-bedroom Hayman Beach House
There’s no real comparison to the InterContinental Three-bedroom Hayman Beach House. This 4,300sq ft multi-room standalone villa really is a luxurious home from home here in the Whitsundays, complete with an open-plan living room, beachfront infinity pool and additional private pool for the master bedroom, three en suites, gardens and furnished sun terraces, and instant beach access; divine.Facilities/Amenities
The InterContinental Hayman Island Resort may well be on the doorstep of all the Whitsundays has to offer, yet its first-class offering of in-house facilities is also noteworthy. So, on top of the instant beach access and boat tours there’s also multiple outdoor swimming pools here overlooking the ocean; sun decks lined with loungers; a modern gym, yoga studio and holistic spa with its own vitality pools and massage therapies; the Planet Trekkers Kids Club; tennis, basketball and squash; as well as a golf simulator too.
