Hotel information
The hotel retains its original, refined elegance while also flaunting slick modern features within.
Protected by UNESCO, this historic residence evokes a sense of heritage alongside a peaceful ambience, set as it is a little further out of town but still only a ten-minute walk away from Luang Prabang’s vibrant town centre. Meanwhile, the beautifully-kept gardens are home to exotic flora and fauna, from tropical palms to sweet-smelling flowers, which go on to meet the pretty pool area that glistens throughout the day thanks to its glittering amethyst tiles. Here, sofas with plump cushions, daybeds and sun-loungers await on a rich wooden deck with views of the mountains in the distance.
Le SP is also a well-thought-out reflection of this region’s diverse background. Situated in an authentic Lao house, those looking for pampering can climb the steps and enter into a private sanctuary adorned with soft lighting and exposed rafters. Therapies are an eclectic mix of French and Lao influences with many of the ingredients sourced locally; for a particularly decadent afternoon, why not try the Golden Caviar treatment, or a Milk and Honey body wrap?
If you wish to explore further, borrow a bike from the hotel and immerse yourself in local life. No less than 33 temples can be found in this ancient settlement, which was the royal capital for many centuries. Pop into 3 Nagas – Sofitel Luang Prabang’s sister hotel – and savour an evening meal there, before heading to the night market where you will discover all kinds of local arts and crafts, then return to your hotel for an evening drink in the seclusion of your suite’s garden.
Room Options
The spacious, sumptuous suites at Sofitel Luang Prabang boast large private gardens, and are festooned with contemporary yet colonial-influenced furnishings and beautiful Lao artwork splayed on pristine white walls, combining to create a stylish, relaxing abode to return to each day. Complimentary bottles of water, air-conditioning, a minibar and coffee making facilities add to the luxuries of these charming suites.
Garden Suite
The Garden Suite features either a four-poster, king-size bed or twin beds with crisp sheets, found in 55sq m of space with double doors that open out to a garden where a bathtub, sheltered by a gazebo, awaits. This 55sq m villa with a king-size bed is as equally well thought out and decorated as the rest of the guestrooms, though the plunge pool encrusted with amethyst, and lined with sun loungers, is the ultimate highlight. There’s also a furnished terrace and an indoor bathtub, presenting you with a view of the lush garden as you soak.Signature Governor's Residence
Spread over a vast 120sq m, the Signature Governor’s Residence is perfect for families, with both a king-size bed and twin beds too. A generously-sized living and dining area allows you to spread out while the large garden encourages a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. A bathtub, underneath the al fresco gazebo, is a perfect escape.Facilities/Amenities
