Hotel information
Perfectly at home in Tokyo’s bustling city centre, The Peninsula Tokyo hotel is a beacon of five-star luxury, famously attentive service and more onsite facilities than most.
Why not begin your stay with a stint in the spa? This evocatively-adorned space is among the best spa centres in Tokyo, romantically-lit like the inside of a Japanese lantern and offering all manner of Oriental, traditional and European-inspired treatments, plus aromatherapy steam rooms, heated beds, thermal suites and saunas to lose yourself in.
There’s a luxe indoor heated swimming pool here too, and a Jacuzzi with surrounding loungers which overlook the city below; all making for a rare treat when staying in such a busy metropolis as Tokyo undoubtedly is.
However, it’s not only about the spa, as any stay at The Peninsula Tokyo is also one of Michelin-standard food (in one of the five onsite restaurants), a glamorous top-floor bar offering inspired cityscape views, and impossibly attentive service from the staff and concierge alike.
Whether making use of the hotel’s Rolls-Royce transfers or planning a VIP experience in Tokyo, you could not be in better hands than here. Interior design cues also follow this immaculate blueprint, as communal areas are an individually-themed delight of either nostalgic Japanese stylings or cutting-edge, contemporary design, often with those city views never far from sight thanks to walls of glass throughout the building.
And when it comes to unwinding in your guestroom or suite after a day exploring the highlights of Tokyo, expect an airy and modern space, well-equipped though anything but cluttered and an absolute delight to come home to each day.
Room Options
Among many other things, guestrooms and suites at The Peninsula Tokyo are known for their generous size, beginning at 579sq ft and going up to nearly 4,000sq ft in the largest room category. The interior design and decor scheme do in fact remain consistent throughout all of them, so huge windows or entire walls of glass, contemporary furnishings and either a lounge area or separate living room are included for every guest There are also separate rain showers and a jetted bathtub, smart room controls, humidity and air-conditioning, designer toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, flat-screen TVs, a minibar and coffee maker, self-contained dressing room and Wi-Fi throughout. The views then vary and tend to get more impressive the higher up the building you go, particularly in the larger suites and it can all be enjoyed from your spacious living room – if choosing one of those. Every room category also comes with at least one king-size bed, though twin options and other configurations are also available if needed.
Deluxe Room
More than your average entry-level option, The Peninsula’s Deluxe Room comes with a comfortable seating area and dining table, an impressive bathroom with a deep soak Jacuzzi bathtub and separate dressing room too.Premier Room
The Premier Room is the same size and layout as a Deluxe, though benefits from superior Tokyo skyline views.Grand Premier Garden Room
With views out across the Imperial Palace Gardens, as well as the same long list of included extras to be found across the Premier and Deluxe categories, a Grand Premier Garden Room at the Peninsula Tokyo is worth it for those iconic vistas alone.Grand Premier Park Room
Slightly larger at 681sq ft, book a Grand Premier Park Room for that extra bit of space though also guaranteed views of either Hibiya Park or the Imperial Palace Gardens. The Marunouchi Suite
The Peninsula’s suite category represents a real step-up in both size and in-room extras, with the Marunouchi Suite boasting a floorplan of nearly 1,200sq ft to include a living room, dining area and office space, plus large bathrooms and views over Marunouchi Naka-dori Avenue.Deluxe Suite
The Deluxe Suite is certainly large enough, at 1,253sq ft, though the main draw here is undoubtedly its corner position in the building, walls of glass that line each wall, and consequently views out across Tokyo City. It’s a picturesque sight that captures the urban sprawl as well as Hibiya Park and the Imperial Palace Gardens, while the room itself also benefits from a separate lounge area and supreme marble-clad bathroom. The Hibiya Suite
Book a Hibiya Suite if you’re really looking to either spread out, entertain, or both, while staying at the Peninsula Tokyo. A floorplan of 3,200sq ft is home to a large dining room easily seating up to 12 people, sofas and lounge areas plus some of the best views the hotel has to offer, thanks to its position high up in the building and several walls of glass to admire it through once inside. The Peninsula Suite
Top of the lot is the Peninsula Suite, and if it’s the best option here then it must also be one of the best hotel rooms in all of Tokyo. Across your floorplan of nearly 4,000sq ft you’ll find lounge and dining areas, an impressive balcony overlooking Hibiya Park and the Imperial Palace Gardens plus thoughtful extras such as a telescope and in-suite grand piano. The team here take extra care of anyone staying in the Peninsula Suite, so expect extremely attentive service, traditional tea cerem...Facilities/Amenities
The Peninsula Tokyo boasts an enviable list of onsite facilities and services for such a centrally located city hotel. Their onsite spa, indoor swimming pool, sauna, aromatherapy steam rooms, ice fountain and Jacuzzi overlooking the streets below are all nothing short of heavenly, as good as any top spa and wellness centre you’ll find in Tokyo. There is a well-equipped gym hotel, the Peninsula Academy (kids’ club), Wi-Fi throughout, a supremely attentive concierge team and if needed, a fleet of Rolls-Royce cars available to short transfers.
Restaurants & Bars
Hei Fung Terrace
Refined Cantonese cuisine in a suitably atmospheric setting, as at the Hei Fung Terrace you’ll be dining among traditional hanging lanterns, beautifully carved dark wood furnishings and an all-round nostalgic décor scheme that makes firm nods towards the Japan of old. The fine dining menu here changes constantly, though the high standard and elegance of each delicate dish certainly does not, and if looking for a truly romantic meal while in Tokyo, you can hire one of the Terrace’s private dining rooms – two of which overlook the Imperial Palace.

Peter Restaurant and Bar
Perfectly positioned on The Peninsula’s 24th and top floor, at least one visit to Peter simply must feature on your Tokyo itinerary. This lively, bright and breezy restaurant-bar is encompassed by walls of glass, which not only let in plenty of daylight to show off the room’s snazzy chandeliers and glitzy décor, but also means the most picturesque cityscape views while you dine. The dining here is just as exquisite as with all of The Peninsula’s restaurants, and moves between traditional Japanese and one or two international-inspired dishes and fresh seafood too. That’s the restaurant, though Peter’s adjoining cocktail bar is just as impressive with its chrome art installations, purple neon lights illuminating the walls and extensive drinks menu.

Kyoto Tsuruya at The Peninsula Tokyo
Serving delectable dishes derived from ancient Kaiseki cuisine cooking techniques, The Peninsula’s Michelin-standard Kyoto Tsuruya Restaurant is one of the ultimate dining experiences in Tokyo. You can either tuck yourself away on one of the exclusive tables here, or sit up at the bar and admire through an open kitchen as these masterful chefs prepare most unusual, though delicious dishes.

The Lobby
If it’s possible to take your eyes away from the quite mesmerising central chandelier that dominates The Lobby, turn your gaze to the stacks of handmade cakes, sweets, pastries and sandwiches that this high-tea room is loved for! The Lobby makes for a lovely, laidback break during a busy afternoon sightseeing to simply sit back, sip a cup of fine tea and get ready for whatever the evening holds.
The Peninsula Boutique and Cafe
The Peninsula Boutique and Cafe is a nice alternative if looking for a light bite to eat, coffee or salad during the day either in-house or on the go. The homemade pastries are particularly good!
Activities & Entertainment
As a luxury city centre Tokyo hotel, you could not be better placed to enjoy the capital’s highlights while staying at The Peninsula, with the Imperial Theatre, Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace and boutique outlets of Ginza all within touching distance. In fact, the concierge team here can go one further and arrange exclusive access to some of Tokyo’s main attractions through their ‘keys to the city’ programme. These include private shopping at Tokyo Plaza, advance theatre tickets and jumping the queue at various prestigious restaurants. Then, if travelling to Japan as a family, The Peninsula Academy is essentially the hotel’s kids club, with lots of fun and unusual activities such as origami classes, the Pokémon experience, karate and wind chime workshops – another welcome addition as, if nothing else, it means more time being available to spend in the spa!
