Riverdene Lodge on the Shamwari Game Reserve is an elegantly restored frontier homestead and is Shamwari's family friendly safari lodge. The lodge comprises 9 twin bedded luxury rooms, 7 of which inter-connect allowing families to enjoy space and privacy at the same time. Facilities at the lodge include a swimming pool with shallow section for children, children's supervised play room and jungle gym, indoor and outdoor dining facilities and Boma plus a bar lounge.

Upon arrival, Riverdene's children's cordinator will discuss the activities available specific to your family, taking in to consideration the size of the family and ages of the children. Children can engage in the ''Kids on Safari'' program with visit of the Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Centre, spend time at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre where different types of wild animals or raptors are cared for before being released back into the wild. A range of daytime activities will keep children of all ages entertained including colouring books, puzzles, documentary DVD's on various conservation topics and animals plus animated movies and a selection of board games.

Family safari's are available to those with children aged 4 years and above, you will explore the Shamwari Game Reserve in especially converted open safari vehicles with an experienced ranger who will use their skills to track a vast range of wildlife including Africa's Big Five and teach you about the flora and fauna that surrounds you.
