There is so much to love about the Zannier Hotels Omaanda safari lodge, though even before considering the beauty of this boutique bolthole here in the Namibian savannah, one of the most impressive things about Zannier Hotels Omaanda is its commitment to conservation.

The lodge contributes directly to the protection of species (as well as research) in the Zannier Reserve, and supports the nearby Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary too, helping to thwart poachers and relocate certain animals such as Elephants, and the highly endangered White Rhino.

This is good to know, as not only will your game drive guides be highly skilled and local, but are also part of a wider conservation effort, which you, in turn, would also be supporting by staying here. The wildlife experiences certainly come thick and fast at Zannier Hotels Omaanda, with photo safaris, Elephant trekking, Meerkat spotting, game drives and conservation tours being just some of the many activities available here; always at your own pace, using state-of-the-art equipment and in the company of expert guides.

Zannier Hotels Omaanda itself is certainly one of the most luxurious and exclusive safari lodges in Namibia, and everything here is immaculately presented. From the clutch of beautiful standalone huts (built to resemble traditional village abodes yet full of in-room extras) to Zannier Hotels Omaanda’s irresistible infinity pool, backed by a sun terrace and loungers that look directly out across the plains. There is a small spa at Omaanda too, specialising in rejuvenating treatments and massage therapies, yoga and wellness when the time calls.

Last but not least, your all-important gastronomic journey is just as well taken care of as everything else at Zannier Hotels Omaanda, with freshly prepared breakfasts, pancakes and platters followed up by gourmet lunch spreads or a private picnic, and a daily-changing, four-course menu each evening. Then, at nightfall, there is little else you’d ever want to do except pull up a comfy chair by the outdoor fire and enjoy a cocktail or two under the stars.

**Note that children under the age of 6 are not permitted at the hotel, and certain excursions are not suitable for anyone under 16. However, the team here can provide games and entertainment for guests aged 6 and over, if needed.

The one and two-bedroom circular Huts at Omaanda are designed to reflect traditional Namibian village homes, while still being thoroughly luxurious and surprisingly well-equipped. Inside, the walls are a cooling white, while handwoven rugs, tall thatched roofs and exposed beams add real authenticity. Meanwhile, in-room extras also come aplenty, with an espresso machine, king-size bed, rain shower and standalone bathtub, twin vanity sinks, air-con, a minibar, Bluetooth speakers, Wi-Fi and a private furnished terrace all featuring as standard.

Two-bedroom Hut

Two-bedroom Hut

The Two-bedroom Huts at Omaanda are better suited to families, thanks to their floorplan of 1,300sq ft, two en suite bedrooms and a larger terrace to enjoy.

You’ll find a beautiful infinity pool and sundeck looking out across the tundra at Omaanda, as well as a modest spa offering rejuvenating treatments, and an onsite boutique of souvenirs and handmade jewellery too. There is then a slick concierge team on-hand for anything else you need, and board games can be provided for children if required.

The delicious, organic food served at Omaanda is a real highlight of any stay. Your day begins with freshly baked breads, superfood health bowls, cereal and yoghurt, pancakes and fruit platters, while lunch is a decadent buffet affair of fresh salads and various other house specialities. Come nightfall, you have a daily-changing, four-course dinner to look forward to, as well as snacks throughout the day and picnics if you’re out and about all afternoon.

Game drives are the main attraction while staying at Omaanda, and the lodge offers a wide range of options and outings at different times of day, which you can pick and choose from between stints in the spa and admiring the views from a poolside sun lounger. Popular excursions here include guided photo safaris, conservation tours, Elephant or carnivore tracking, visiting the Shiloh Wildlife Sanctuary or taking a drive on the lookout for Meerkats, which are commonly found nearby. Helicopter flights above the plains can also be arranged, though back at the lodge, yoga and wellness classes are also available as a relaxing alternative to your wildlife-spotting adventures.
