Hotel information
Little Governors' Camp, originally built in 1976, is a luxury safari camp located on the edge of the Maasai Mara Reserve. The camp, with just 17 en-suite tents, is tucked around a curved watering hole that attracts an abundance of wildlife and bird species.
The approach to camp is unique as you'll be escorted by a boat ride across the Mara River and a short walk through the riverine forest into camp. The en-suite tents have wooden decks with large verandas for you to enjoy the constant game activity around the natural watering hole.
As dusk falls, the flickering lights in the forest make the camp a peaceful and atmospheric place. Meals are enjoyed, as is the local style, al fresco under the cool shade of the wurbergia trees during the day, and by candle-light in the dining tent by night.
A resident family of warthogs wander freely through the camp and, on occasions, you'll have to make way for elephants paying a visit to the camp at lunch time. Little Governors' Camp has been awarded a Silver Eco-Rating from Eco Tourism Kenya due to the sustainable practices in place in camp. Activities on offer include game drives in their custom built 44 vehicles, hot air balloon safaris, visits to the nearby Maasai community manyatta, and visits to nearby community and conservation projects.
Room Options
All the tents are tucked into the edge of the forest and overlook a natural waterhole frequented by many animals. They have polished wooden decks with large verandas to enable you to relax and enjoy the panorama of animals visiting the watering hole in front.

Balloon Safaris

Walking Safaris

Cultural Visits
The Maasai people are a sight synonymous with Kenyan safaris. Maasai cultural experiences at a Maasai village (manyatta) can be arranged from camp or pre-booked, with a fee payable direct to the community.
Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Visits to Little Governors' responsible tourism projects can be organised from camp. Rianda Primary School and Mara Rianda Medical Centre are inspirational projects supported by Governors’ Camps.
