Hotel information
The luxury Elephant Pepper Camp, based in the Mara North Conservancy, retains an authentic atmosphere of a classic safari under canvas and offers an ultimate location to explore the Maasai Mara.
This secluded, intimate, solar run camp, tucked away in a grove of Elephant Pepper Trees, is a magnet for resident game due to its rich grasses and natural springs, so you can immerse yourself in camp for hours before your afternoon game drive. Your days will be full of activity as the camp also lies close to the Mara River, a perfect choice for outstanding game viewing all year around and a hive of activity during the Migration Season, with a river crossing point just an hour away from camp.
Game driving in the Mara North offers outstanding viewing with a resident pride of lions, cheetahs and leopards. As a privately managed conservancy, game driving is restricted to vehicles belonging to lodges within the conservancy, ensuring an elevated wildlife viewing experience for guests.

Activities & Entertainment
Game Drives
The Elephant Pepper Camp guides are based in camp, in the Maasai Mara, and know their backyard intimately. All the guides are Bronze or Silver level 'Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association' certified, with some having guided in this area for over 20 years.
Elephant Pepper Camp has open game drive vehicles. The current fleet are new, specially fitted, 4×4 Toyota Landcruisers. The vehicles are unrivalled, with feature enhancements specifically designed for comfort and photography – open sided with three rows of seats, photographic equipment stands and charging sockets. You'll share game drives unless “exclusive use of vehicle” has been prebooked at an extra charge.
Guided Walks
Leave the car behind and enjoy the small things – animal tracks, flowers and micro-ecosystems. There are experienced walking guides, together with Maasai from the local area, that can take you on a delightful ramble from camp – a whole new perspective of the ecosystem around you.
Elephant Pepper Camp is also perfect for young explorers. The experienced guides organise exciting walks for kids within the camp. Little ones will learn how to make a fire, throw a rungu, fire a bow and arrow or track wildlife. As a memento of their adventure, children can take home their very own cast from the tracks they discovered.
Bush Breakfast and Sundowners
Take a moment to sit back and enjoy the spectacular views, smells, colours and gentle breeze. Bush breakfasts are a chance to enjoy a full breakfast, al fresco, in the middle of the plains, surrounded by wildlife.
“Sundowners” are a safari tradition – after a day of safari, stop to watch the spectacular sunset with a gin and tonic in hand.
Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Elephant Pepper Camp is one of only six camps in Kenya to have been awarded “Gold Level” Eco Rating by the internationally recognised civil society organisation 'Eco Tourism Kenya'. The camp achieves environmental best practice by combining old fashioned safari camp know-how with the latest technology, leaving a minimal footprint. Almost invisible under the Elephant Pepper trees with completely removable tent structures, the camp relies entirely on solar power and uses only LED lighting.
