Xigera Safari Lodge

Hidden beneath a canopy of the indigenous forest of Okavango Delta is the sprawling throng of individually designed suites. The Fan Palm Suite

Capturing the earth tones of south Africa and decorated in local African art, The Fan Palm Suite is named after the palm tree native. Clad in dark reds and browns with hints of ash grey, you’ll have the perfect space to relax after a day of exploring.

The Mangosteen Suite

This suite takes its name from the beloved Okavango Delta evergreen tree, growing life-giving fruits. Enjoy the emerald colours embellished on the bedspread, and more South African artworks from patterned ceramic stool designed by Atang Tshikare and bronze bowls created by Charles Haupt.

The Knobthorn Suite

Embracing the colours of the symbolic riverside knobthorn tree, this suite’s décor boasts the spring green palette with artistic African flare. Some of the pieces include a timber wardrobe with brass doors by Otto du Plessis, ash and spring green custom Kassena Server by Dokter and Misses and glazed ceramic tableware collection by Chuma Maweni.

The Leadwood Suite

With spectacular landscape views speckled with leadwood tree, this suite is designed with handcrafted bowls. These art pieces are made from leadwood, locally sourced from the farmer in Limpopo Valley.

The Sausage Tree Suite

Designed in colourful detail, this comfortable suite is enhanced by the maroon-coloured blooms. Ebonised ash and ruby red custom Kassena Serva created by Dokter and Misses is showcased in the suite, along with Ebonised eucalyptus side table by Adam Birch.

The Jackalberry Suite

Decorated in jade-green colours to portray the jackalberry tree’s fruit, this suite offers a stylish atmosphere to its already comfortable feel. Enjoy the artistic charm with pieces such as an Imbizo dining table by Chuma Maweni as well as ‘Further in Further Out’ artwork by Chris Soal.

The Marula Suite

This suite is named after a tree, favoured among the elephants and giraffes of Okavango Delta. The Marula Suite is designed with an egg cup chair, uniquely designed by Adam Birch, as well as a three-stripe karakul by Coral and Hive.

The Sycamore Suite

This suite takes pride as it emulates the colours of the most impressive trees in Botswana. The Sycamore Suite is decorated in bright orange hues similar to the trees bark, and elevated with African art pieces such as Cerrera tables by Duchenne.

The Waterlily Suite

Taking the calming colour tones from the waterlilies of Xigera, this suite incorporates flashes of brown to enhance the luxurious designs.

The Papyrus Suite

The papyrus reed-beds are located in the waters of Okavango Delta, giving life to the wildlife of Botswana. The fabrics on the bed are designed to emulate the calming colours of the waters where the papyrus is found.

The Baobab Suite

Considered a truly iconic ‘tree of life’, the pre-historic baobab tree is native to the African savannah and known as a symbol of life and positivity. This suite is carefully designed to show the spectacular charm of the tree, with sculptures and artistic furniture to decorate it.

The Xigera Family Suite

Those who are travelling with family, this suite is perfect. Offering two bedrooms, a lounge that opens to the private viewing deck and fun learning activities for the children including animal-logging books.

Xigera Safari Lodge Restaurant

The Xigera Safari Lodge Restaurant menu is created and kept fresh by one of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection’s talented Executive Chefs, Ziyaad Brown. Here, you can indulge in seasonal flavours, made from the ingredients sourced from local suppliers. After your long days of exploring, take a seat under the stars on the spacious deck, and tuck into a sumptuous dinner whilst marvelling at the African bush. Afterwards, you can share stories of the day with other like-minded travellers with a delicious cocktail in hand.

Family

Based in the Moremi Game Reserve, there is plenty to do in and around the Xigera Safari Lodge including family-friendly experiences. On land, you can explore the dense wildlife with exciting game drives at the best times of the day with the lions are lounging in the sun and the giraffes are reaching for food in the trees. An expert of the safari will take you for a guided walk, taking routes that are alive with creatures for you to gaze at.

Look for the stealthy crocodile that lurk beneath the water’s surface while on a motorboat or mokoro excursion. Look to the skies to see what birds are nesting around the river banks or are soaring across the water to catch their prey. Do a bit of fishing yourself, exploring what swims beneath with catching and releasing what you find.

Come nightfall, you can enjoy a wonderful evening of stargazing under the unpolluted sky, or head to the bush for a unique dining experience. Plus, the Boabab Treehouse is a must-do experience. Climb to the top of the tree-like structure and enjoy complete seclusion under a blanket of stars. Sleep in the comfortable bedroom for one night after having some soothing moments overlooking the Okavango Delta.

Xigera Safari Lodge is an eco-friendly lodge run by the Tollman family who are committed to protecting the Okavango Delta. In their efforts of sustainability, the family have partnered with TreadRight Foundation and The Travel Corporation to ensure the wildlife survives and thrives around the lodge. Their partnership with Wild Entrust Africa also focuses on conservation of the habitats using scientific methods.

The lodge also has a state-of-the-art Energy Centre, and uses renewable solar to prevent the carbon dioxide emissions. Water is purified safely before guests can drink from the tap, and any bottled water is stored in environmentally friendly glass bottles. Plus, the lodge has now eradicated unnecessary single-use plastics.
