Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero has a prime location just above the Chobe River. At almost every corner, you can bask in the magnificent views over the floodplains, alive with unique wildlife and some of Africa’s most beloved animals strolling past the windows of your suite. Relax in your private garden with sightings of the African birds, or opt for a pool suite to bask in your private plunge pool under the stars. When you’re not spotting wildlife and lounging in luxury in your room, indulge in the superb facilities that the lodge offers, from a split-level pool to one of the only full spas in Botswana.

Venture further from the camp to enjoy the activities on offer at the lodge. Embark on a 4x4 game drive with incredibly knowledgeable guides in the Chobe National Park, where the large herd of elephants is the undoubted highlight. Of course, a sundowner cruise is one of the best ways to finish off a day in Chobe in style, or you can choose to go fishing for bream or tiger-fish on a catch and release excursion. The iconic Victoria Falls is only an hour and half from the lodge, making for an amazing day trip.

Chobe Chilwero has also got a fence surrounding the lodge, making it perfect for families of all ages. Children can go on guided safari walks in search of various plants and seeds and learn about their identification, play croquet on the main lawn or try their hand at making their own pizza with the chef.

End your daytime safari adventures with a gourmet meal, prepared by the Chef Phinias. Enjoy a hearty, yet healthy meal whilst soaking in the breathtaking views of the river. Take a visit to the wine cellar below the lodge to choose your wine for dinner.

Game Viewing

Either in the early morning or the late afternoon, enjoy a game drive through the safari to encounter the dense wildlife from lions, leopard, hyena and hippo to zebras, giraffe and much more. Plus, it is almost certain you’ll come across the elephants in Chobe National Park, famed for its high population of the majestic giants.

Between May and August, you can take to the water to discover the marine life with a fishing excursion. On this catch-and-release fishing trip, you’ll encounter some of the river’s unique underwater creatures from the tigerfish to bream.

River Cruises

Enjoy cruising the Chobe River in specially designed riverboats, perfect for game viewing under the warm tones of the sunset. Spot the big game including elephants and buffalo, and keep a keen eye out to see the roan and sable antelopes. Once finished, watch the rest of the sunset with a cocktail of your choice. If you’re a photographer, take the photographic safari boat with upper and lower decks to capture the perfect shot over the river.

Community

The community that surrounds Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is open for you to explore, including the Dipetsana Women’s Bike Shop. Here, you can meet the women, tour the shop and even use one of the bikes to take a scenic ride. Plus, the local animal rescue centre is open for you to enjoy seeing the hard work put in to save the wildlife of Chobe National Park.

Victoria Falls

One of the world’s natural wonders is just 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive from Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero. A guide will help you explore this phenomenal waterfall, and will tell you everything about its history along the way.

Kids

Let the little ones run wild with the lodge providing many activities for them to partake in. They can walk in the safaris among the lodges grounds, the staff will organise fun treasure hunts and they can even enjoy a game of lawn croquet.
