Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Denis Island minimises wastage and uses what the island provides to emphasise sustainability. Their food is locally sourced to feed their guests. This includes milk, yogurt and cheese that is sourced from their cattle, fresh port and all fish caught in the ocean closest to the hotel, and their fruits and vegetables are island-grown.
Their vast knowledge of the local eco-system and passion to preserve their surroundings has resulted in the hotel using local materials and methods to reduce their carbon footprint. This includes using interiors and decorations made by the self-sustaining local lumber mill and carpentry workshop, which has provided wood floorings, furniture and more.
